Henan Feng Wei - Broad Channel

Been going here when I'm in flushing for the past 10 years. Still the best noodles I've ever had.My favourite dishes are the lamb noodle soup, the stir fried lamb noodles, and the tomato and egg noodles.The side dishes they have in the glass booth are also phenomenal, especially the beef tendon and the tofu.This place will not disappoint.

Like a proper hole-in-the-wall the food here is amazing. Henan Feng Wei Henan Hui Mian/河南烩面 is an absolute must if you want to experience the diversity of Chinese cuisines. I tried the stir-fried lamb noodles and it was phenomenal. A little about me: half of my family is from Henan but became they came to the U.S. via Taiwan there were few opportunities to make lamb dishes. So this restaurant is a bit of a foodie homecoming for me.After having the stir-fried lamb noodles I finally understood the importance of using cumin with lamb. A lot of people find lamb to be too gamey and are put off by the smell. But somehow the cumin pairs perfectly with lamb to make it aromatic and not gamey at all. In fact, the gamey-ness of the lamb starts to taste more like a richer flavor of cumin. And don 't get me started on the noodles! They take it to an absolute art form here. The name of the restaurant is Hénán Huì Mìan 河南烩面 , which literally means Henan Braised Noodles . The texture of the noodles is unlike any I 've ever eaten--soft, elastic, and almost pillowy. Every noodle maker can take tips from this restaurant in how to craft a superior noodle.

If you like watery broth with a lamb funk, this place is for you. I got just the noodle soup and lamb burger. The lamb burger was fine (and by itself is pretty filling). This is the first meal in a long time where I had a few bites and then stopped to look for a better use of my stomach space. If you start with lackluster broth, no amount of chili oil, vinegar, white pepper and salt can fix it.Cash only.

Got the cumin lamb burger and lamb huimian. Really really good. Huimian broth benefits from extra salt and chili oil (both on the table).
