Bidrage med feedbackI heard thar this place was bought out from the original owners so we tried it out to see if they still have the good food the previous owners made. The customer service is horrible now. They will not admit to their mistakes let alone apologize for theinconvenience they made to their customers. My wife (a vegetarian) ordered pineapple jalapeno pizza. They gave us a hawaaianwith jalapeno. We called them telling that they put the wrong toppings and they insisted that it is our fault for ordering thewrong item. I went back to their store to return the pizza and they hesitated to give me a refund. Why would a vegetarian ordersomething with meat on it? Former customers, BEWARE of the new San Remo . Never had any issue with the previous owners. Weorder often here since we only live a few houses down from the store but I guess it is time to find a new spot.
We ordered two plates of veal francese, but the dish was drowning in sauce, which caused the coating to fall off the veal. While the veal itself was tender, the sauce lacked a lemony flavor and had a more brownish hue. The other dish was shrimp and linguini in Alfredo sauce, which needed a bit more seasoning, though a little salt and pepper did the trick. Unfortunately, the shrimp were overcooked and had a rubbery texture. On a positive note, our waitress (I can't recall her name) was very sweet. I've heard the restaurant is under new management, so perhaps they are still working out some issues. The ambiance isn't impressive, but in the past, I've enjoyed the reasonably priced and delicious food. I hope they can get back to that standard!
I ordered pizzas for a party, and I can confidently say that this is the best pizza place in Bridgeport. Their prices are very reasonable compared to other nearby restaurants, and I appreciate how smoothly everything operates. I love this place and it definitely lives up to the hype!
San Remo was at its best when Leno owned it, and then later when his daughter Chrissie took over. Lino and San Remo were the pioneers of garlic knots 40 years ago, and that dish is now imitated by countless other restaurants! Sergio continued the legacy of exceptional food and service after Chrissie. The last time I ordered from San Remo was a year and a half ago, and I don't know who was in charge then, but it was absolutely excellent! I haven't had a chance to try it since, but I'm curious to see how they're doing now. I feel for those who have left negative reviews, but it's important to remember that most reviews tend to be critical. People with positive experiences often don’t take the time to write a review, so keep that in mind, everyone!
I decided to visit this restaurant after hearing that it was a favorite spot for my parents back in the '90s. We usually dined in back then, and we chose to do the same this time. On a Tuesday night, we were the only customers in the place. The interior was a bit worn and felt stuffy. We placed a somewhat hesitant order for a San Remo Special pizza and some garlic knots. To our surprise, the food was absolutely delicious! The pizza had a perfectly crisp and flavorful crust, and the sauce and toppings were generous and rich—hands down the best New England-style pizza I've had since moving away from Connecticut! The large pizza was truly massive; one slice was more than enough to fill me up! The garlic knots were equally tasty—simple yet packed with flavor. I'm really glad we decided to stay and give it a shot. Just a heads up: parking is limited, but we managed to find a spot in the back.
