Bidrage med feedbackWas there an 82 I'm the tall guy on the left and smith next to me. Semper Fi.
Was there in winter 1973, hiked out with Lima Co, 3rd7th Marines , in 3±`feet of snow, with temperatures of 5°F by noon. With all the gear needed for a month in the snowy bush, Nov. to Dec. Coldest night was -15°F on the ridge top. What trip that was.
Late 80s with 3/2 Lima, was the armor! Beautiful place!
Cold Weather Training 3/8 in 1988 when I was a Navy Corpsman. Best experience I had in the Service. Loved it.
Attended in '90? then visited the sandbox for fun in the sun. A decade later bought a home across from a true Frozen Chosin vet. When he learned we trained using the same boots he gifted me his tie pin from the era. He is now failing in health and I wanted to post a note to those from that era: thank you for blazing the trail!Tips -1: when they 'teach ' you to ski, don 't turn until told...2: don 't over pump the stove and if you do have a blade ready to cut the jerry can from the tree.3: don 't ever ever carry your pack and an injured buddies pack while also pulling a sled. Just too much weight.4: sunscreen...
