Knurrhahn I Fischgaststatte - Bremen

I was really disappointed about the quality of fish in Knurrhahn, which is suppose to be a good fish restaurant.I had poached salmon and it was hard to believe that it was fresh rather than frozen. If you are a more a fresh and grilled fish person, then this restaurant is not for you.

We always visit this fish restaurant when we are in Bremen, sometimes for lunch or early evening dinner as it closes quite early. There is a great choice for fish lovers and always a specials board. We are almost always served by the same waitress who is very helpful and good at advising you if you're not sure about anything. The wine is good and their fresh salad bowl just delicious. This restaurant is very reasonably priced for the high quality food on offer and such a favourite of ours.

I like to go to have lunch in the Knurrhahn Bistro which you can enter from the side entrace of the building (not the main entrace from the restaurant). During the week many workers from the offices will be there during their lunch break and the location might be a bit crowded. They just serve a few dishes there- the prices are from 3 € - 8 € .My fav dish is the "Dauerbrenner" - fried pollack with fried potatoes or frensh fries plus sauce. If you dunno what to choose- just order fish and chips. My opinion about that one is that you won´t find fish and chips as good as that one in england.I like the bistro- probably one day i will try the restaurant.

Most of menu are fish plates. The English menu is available. It's located nearby the city center. We sat outside with good atmosphere. Nice soup as well.

Excellent food and service - the matjes is outstanding. Well prepared, excellent seafood dishes, cozy atmosphere
