Bidrage med feedbackMy wife and I had another very good dinner in Kläsles Gastronomy outside on a warm summer evening. Our dinner included a Toscana Flame Cake, a Carpaccio and three different versions of Matjes soused Herings. All were very good and the service was excellent.
During a visit with friends in Breisach we were invited to dine in this restaurant with a group of 11 people. We expected a nice dinner, relaxing, overlooking the Rhine. As it turned out, the restaurant had no record of our reservation confirmed by e-mail, and also after it showed them the confirmation and had waited for the manager to finally arrive and solve the situation; we were turned away in the most unfriendly, rude way, without excuse and without explanation. What a disappointment and a ruined evening!
Four of us enjoyed a very good dinner sitting outside a large umbrella. We ordered a salad with goat cheese, which was excellent, a lamb kneader and two kidney dishes with band noodles. The service was just as good.
My Wife and I decided to visit this location with our adult children after a leisurely day spent exploring Breisach, and Neu Breisach. A storm had been predicted that day on the weather forecast, and the wind had increased as the day progressed. This restaurant is located adjacent to the River Rhine in fact the restaurant is only a few yards distant from the bank. There is plenty of outdoor seating at this location, but we decided to move inside on this occasion for shelter. I cant recall how much car parking there was as we dashed from the car to avoid the torrential rain. Premises appeared clean and well maintained. Staff were welcoming and amenable without being over bearing, good selection of dishes to choose from dishes. As we had only just recently arrived in the country decided to try our favourite choice of Schnitzel. Food portion sizes were generous, and the meal was served hot and promptly. For four people including a couple of drinks each, and a customary Williams Christ Birne Schnapps we paid 113.30 Euros which I thought was quite reasonable. Would like to visit this location again in the daytime for a meal and to view the river. Appears popular with an eclectic mix of clientele. Very enjoyable time spent in conversation with family.
During our recent two week stay in Colmar, we grew weary of Alsatian dishes and ventured across the border to Germany several times for some good hearty fare. We were interested in eating lunch while enjoying a view of the Rhine and decided on Klasles. We enjoyed our first lunch so much, we returned several days later for another, our only repeat restaurant of the vacation. Klasles has a very nice deck with a great view of the Rhine and passing barges and boats. We thought the menu had good variety and reasonable prices considering the location. We found the quality of the meals was also quite good and the portions were quite large. The Restaurant opens for lunch at 11AM and when we visited on a Saturday and a Tuesday, the patio was full by noon, mostly with locals. As other reviews mention, Klasles has a very casual and laid back atmosphere and there is a nice, small playground next to the patio if you have children. We found the servers to be pleasant, friendly and helpful in answering questions about the menu and specials. On the first visit, my wife had a nice Sekt for 3.50 Euro and I had the dark wheat beer (dunkeles hefeweizen) for the same price. For lunch, my wife had a pork schnitzel with french fries (pommes frites) and mixed salad (gemischtes salat) and I had the lamb shank(Lammhaxe) that came with croquettes and green beans. The dishes each cost about 15-16 Euro. Both our main dishes were very good. On our second visit, my wife had a large mixed salad, and I had the daily special (Tages Menue) of a Mixed Grill. This came with thick slices of roast beef and veal with gravy, mixed vegetables, and spaetzle, It also came with a delicious cream of mushroom soup, and a lemon meringue pudding dessert. Although the meat was well done and I prefer it a bit less cooked, it was very tasty and tender. My only complaint is that the vegetables were either overcooked or not fresh, unlike my fresh and tasty green beans on the first visit. My wife's salad was very large and cost about 9 Euros. Imagine my surprise when we got the bill and learned that my daily special lunch cost only 9.50 Euros!! Although we didn't get it, the table next to us ordered the Mediterranean seafood salad and it looked amazing, with very large prawns and a number of seafood items on a large salad. Judging by each person completely devouring their salad, it appeared to taste as good as it looked. If you're near Breisach Am Rhein and looking for a pleasant and tasty meal at a reasonable price, consider Klasles!
