Maria's Fish and Chips & Eatery

I visited Maria's Fish and Chips with my son on 06/23. We went in before his karate class and left early. The waitress took our drink order and brought them 20 minutes later. Another couple came in after us and got their food before us, which I found strange. Our food took about 50 minutes to arrive, and it was overcooked and not good. My son's pogo was burnt and inedible. The cook came out to ask if we had ordered, wiping sweat from his brow. I was very disgusted and found the experience unprofessional. Our meal cost almost $20 and was not worth $5. The food was greasy and overcooked. I would not recommend this place and had one of the worst experiences in 7 years of living here. Save yourself time and money and go to KFC instead.

Have suffrered through two ownership changes and the last shows how downhill a place can get. The cashier seemed very confused, they got our order wrong and we ended up waiting for 45 minutes for a takeout. Haddock was overcooked, dry and the batter burnt as well as the fries. Apparently everyone involved needs either further time to get better at what they are trying to do or lessons from someone who knows the business.

I have been a loyal customer of Maria's for their cod and chips since they changed ownership. Today, I ordered 3 pieces of 1/4 lb cod loin for $21.00 +tax. The girl at the cash register said it would take 40 to 45 minutes, which I didn't mind if the food was good. However, when I got home and opened the package, I discovered that the pieces of cod were much smaller than I had received in the past. One piece was even smaller than a 2 oz. piece of perch. I went back to the restaurant and they agreed to cook me a haddock loin to make up for the difference. When I got home, the cod and chips were only slightly warm, but the haddock was much larger and tasted good. Just a heads up to anyone getting takeout from Maria's, make sure to check your order before leaving. The portions they served me were not up to their usual standard.

Read a few reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to give it a try. Not dissapointed in the food or the service. Quality fish and chips are hard to find so im always a skeptic. Portions are generous, fish is crisp with a moist delicious inside. Chips were perfectly done too.We ate till we were stuffed but could not finish.

I have been to enjoy the best fish and chips in town several times since the ownership change. These young guys have changed the batter to be a more authentic English style which has lots of flavor and remains crispy. the portion sizes age very generous and the service is excellent.Fred
