Bidrage med feedbackWe had been waiting a while to eat at 86 and it didn't meant expectations at all. Clumsy service and mediocre food. We had a table booked for 8:30 and when we arrived we were told we would have to wait 30 minutes for a table, luckily they had space at the bar. When we asked the waitress whether we had ordered enough food, she said what we had ordered wouldn't be enough and encouraged us to order one of the larger meat plates. By the time we had got through all of the food that we had wanted we were more than satisfied, and still waiting on the extra plates we had been told we would need. The food wasn't terrible, but it also doesn't deserve the hype that I've been hearing about it over the last 6 months since moving to Canberra. Asparagus was nice, but does three stalks of asparagus with some herbs and aioli deserve an $18 price tag? I don't think so. The fried chicken wings were good, ravioli was tasty but the pasta was very thick. Maybe if the prices hadn't been so extortionate this review would be slightly better, but if you're going to charge those prices, please make the food and service on par.

Massive fan of this place. Hands down probably one of the best places you'll eat in Canberra. Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. Make sure you make a booking because this place always gets booked out, even on a weekday. The staff are very friendly and the ambiance is warm and inviting. Started off with the fried chicken which was tender and moist. This was followed by the cauliflower salad which was amazing. As a main we shared the lamb wagyu. The dessert was the star of the show : the famous banoffie pie everyone raves about but I understand why. The crumb is sweet with a hint of salt, caramel and fresh bananas and cream / topped with salted pretzels. Yummm!!! Would definitely come here again to try the Black Chicken.
Stunning food, exceptional service. I couldn't ask for more from my new favourite in Canberra. Was with a group of 9 that tried the 86 shared menu, and each dish that came out was just mouth watering delicious. Highlights for me were the pappardelle w parmesan & local black truffle, bag salmon w pickles and the lamb shoulder was just to die for. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and the chefs were even receptive to my inquiries on how that lamb shoulder is prepared (without giving too much away) ;-) Love it and can't wait to go back.
Nice ambience and food but hugely overpriced for serving portions. We were content with our initial orders from the top half of the menu but the waitress made us feel like we had to order more. We ordered the lamb pasta - $35 for four pieces of pasta? You've got to be joking. It left a very bad taste in our mouth and we won't be back.
