Bidrage med feedbackWe stayed at the hotel for our wedding anniversary and it wasn 't particularly good. We went down for dinner at about 8.45pm and was told that they finish serving food at 9pm. We ordered our food and it arrived reasonably quickly . Unfortunately, the new potatoes on the salmon main meal were not hot enough to melt the butter and the sauce on the salmon was not particularly tasty. The sirloin steak had been cut quite thin and although I asked for medium rare it was closer to medium. The chips were quite good although they did seem like they were frozen chips. We did tell (I think she was the owner or manager of the hotel) that the food really wasn 't too good. She actually agreed with me that it wasn 't particularly good and she said (without me asking) that she would not charge us for the food. We had both had starters which were reasonably good. Although the food was free , it did really take the enjoyment out of our visit. Generally, the hotel looked dated and in need of upgrading/decorating with very limited parking space. Our room (on the 2nd floor) was adequate for the night and it had great views looking out to the sea. The room was OK for space and quite clean although certain places had been missed/overlooked. The bed was comfortable (for me) although the base of the bed was about 6 Inches longer than the mattress. The pillows (for me) were hard and quite uncomfortable. I know some people will find them extremely comfortable. Please take note that these are my options on this visit only. I am not in any way trying to make decisions or choices for anyone else whos stay might be considerably different to what we experienced.
If I can put a negative star, I would. My family decided to have lunch at this pub since it has a nice view and it’s near the cliff and flat that we’re staying in. We arrived there just a little before 12pm and the place wasn’t busy. The two guys at the bar (one of them seems to be the manager, could be the tall guy suddenly whispered to each other. Probably the tall guy was just telling the other guy what to do with us or where to place us. Then when we asked if we could be seated near the window with a view, we were told that they are full booked in the main dining area. A handful of the tables had a reserved label but most of them do not have one. We were told that they can only sit us somewhere else. These were the few seats on the side of the pub, near the toilets! But since we’re already hungry and do not want to spoil our vacation, we decided to take the table. I noticed that the chair bench where we’re placed were full of furs (could be from dogs . I can’t believe that they placed us on the table for dogs pets. The tables were not even in terms of height. We ordered at the bar as instructed by the shorter guy. We ordered 2 pork loins, 1 salmon, 1 medium rare steak, 1 child’s meal of sausage and chips and 2 large coke zero. We asked the shorter guy at to either separate or totally remove the gravy of the sausage. Then the tall guy (even if he’s busy taking another customer’s order suddenly interrupted us to tell us (without even caring to look at us that they cannot do what we’re asking them. My companion told him that her child doesn’t eat gravy so it’s not an option to pour it on the sausage. The shorter guy thankfully answered that he can ask the kitchen to do that. The other staffs were looking at us as if they were l sizing us up (or down perhaps! . When the orders came, the sausages were burnt (really dark and the steak was served well done! The servers kept coming back to our table to ask check if we’re done eating. When our table was being cleaned, we just decided to leave and not make a scene. That’s just 1pm. Too short time for a lunch with two little kids and 4 adults. We noticed that the tables on the main dining area are still vacant. It’s as if they just do not want us to seat in that area. This has been the worst dining experience I had in the UK. The food wasn’t good and the service was a disaster. It felt like this experience was because of our skin colour. We were the only skin-coloured asian customers in that pub.
We came here for my big birthday and had an amazing stay so much so we decided to stay a day extra. Selina was amazing at helping us book another day at short notice. We decided to stay in for my birthday meal so the staff decorated a table for us and had a bottle of bubbly awaiting me. The location is just perfect beach across the road amazing sea view. I will always book here for my next break and have already recommended to family and friends. All the staff are so friendly too.
5/5! We stayed for a couple of nights for our anniversary. We had a corner room on the second floor, so we had two windows with lovely sea views. Clean and comfortable, good choice at breakfast, and all the cooked food we had, both at breakfast and evening meal was excellent. If you book direct, you get 20% off any food in the restaurant, which is worth having. They have gluten free options if needed, and decaff tea/coffee for your room on request. The staff were all lovely special mention to Lisa, who went above and beyond for us, and also the lady that was with Lisa when we were leaving that came out to see us off, sorry, I don't know your name, but you will know who you are thanks so much, you both made our anniversary trip very special.
We came here to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary with our family last Sunday afternoon and enjoyed a wonderful, stress free function. The management team were most accommodating being receptive, relaxed and responsive to our plans and wishes. On the day Staff were fantastic. The service was excellent and they were all extremely helpful, cheerful and courteous taking every effort to make our function the success it was. The food was superb being both delicious and presented to the highest standard. We enjoyed an all round outstanding function which has contributed to a very memorable Golden Wedding Anniversary. I wholeheartedly recommend the Staff and Chefs of the Commodore Hotel for your meal or function.
