What a location! Views are superb. Pizzas are fantastic. Unfortunately the staff are not friendly and makes this otherwise perfect experience underwhelming.
The most unpleasant unfriendly staff I’ve ever been served by, particularly the breakfast staff. Complained to the manager after being shoved on purpose) by the morning waitress whilst getting my coffee at the coffee machine because I voiced my disappointment to her a few minutes before about having to ask 4 times for cups so I could get a coffee, but he just didn’t want to know. Sarcasm is the staff’s favourite pastime at this place! Whatever you do, don’t ask for anything like some cups or a piece of cutlery unless you want the wrath of the staff) they must be terribly short staffed to be so short tempered, they don’t even bother clearing the breakfast tables so you arrive to dirty cluttered tables at breakfast! We, a group of 9 have just returned from a week long skiing trip on half board, the Voga was our designated place to eat, breakfast and dinner. The dinner menu didn’t change for the duration of our stay and by the end of the week we’d really had enough of the lack of choice. Food was pretty ‘meh’ although all of the deserts were excellent, well done to the imaginative pastry chef. 10/10 I honestly think that the staff at this place hate their jobs and hate the British even more.
We've been coming to VG for almost 8 years now, and every time we've experienced nice people and great service. This is a very typical French restaurant but with an upmarket ski-resort vibe to it, so obviously if you're a Brit (or just not French) they do things a little differently, that's part of the culture and you should expect and embrace it. The food is fabulous and well-priced (for a ski resort) and the wait staff genuinely try their hardest with speaking english (be patient). For us, the takeaway pizzas and chips (yes I know very British) is incredible, but the selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner is very broad. If you want to enjoy VG, don't turn up with typical British expectations, instead, respect, enjoy and savour the great food and incredible views. We will be back!
We ate at Voga Goga last week, and I have to say, I was slightly nervous due to some of the reviews. However, our experience was fantastic. We ate breakfast and dinner every day for a week on the half board basis, which worked very well. The breakfast was an excellent spread of cereals, pastries, breads, cooked food, cold meats and cheese, yoghurts etc. It didn't change but with so much variety, it was a great start to the day. In the evening there was plenty of choice too, with the Savoyard specialties being great. The quality of the food was really very good. There was also plenty for the kids. The service was friendly and quick all week and despite what some reviewers have said before, being an English family was certainly not a problem. I couldn't fault the staff at all, they were lovely. It's not trying to be a cosy, chalet style restaurant, and the prices are in line with other places too. It does what it does very well.
