Bidrage med feedbackI have enjoyed everything I have tried at this restaurant, but there is just something missing that prevents me from giving it five stars. The warm lobster roll comes on a delicious bun and is generously slathered in butter, but unfortunately, I found several pieces of shell in it which took away from the experience. It's hard to justify spending $40 on a meal where you have to pick shells out of your mouth. The chowder is quite tasty, not too thick, and the potatoes really stand out. The onion rings are reminiscent of onion strings - very thin and full of flavor. The bartenders are always friendly, and the atmosphere is casual yet appealing with its decor.
In Boston for a few days and determined to enjoy all kinda of seafood. Am on day 3 after 2 days of awesome meals. My mom had fish and chips Cusser's in Timeout. Chips was good but so disappointed with the fish. It had the just thawed texture with no flavor. Batter was crispy but so so. Biting into the flavorless fish was a real letdown. Cold lobster roll for me. Buttery crust and big bc inks of lobster. Enjoyed the slightly sweet flavor. Complimented the chowder very well. Chowder the best I've had this week, just wish it was a bit thicker.
I know why this place is called Cussers The food is straight-up GARBAGE and the prices are WAY too high. If your expectations are high, expect disappointment here. Saw several good reviews and gave it a try. Out of twenty-six meals that we ate while visiting Boston for 10 days, THIS was the worst! Buyer Beware.
For a quick weekend dinner, I decided to try Cusser 's l, since my only prior experience with roast beef had been at supermarket delis. After finding a seat at the counter not difficult, as the entire establishment is one giant counter), I ordered a roast beef sandwich and onion rings. The onion rings $4.5) seemed well balanced. They had enough oil to not taste dry, but without feeling greasy, both on touch and on bite. Less balanced was the portion size, which could have been a shareable appetizer for 3. Lastly, the seasoning, seemingly more than just basic salt and pepper, made this quite the value proposition. The roast beef sandwich, called the 80T Style $12), arrived with, as the menu described, all natural Wagyu, pickled red onions, cheddar, and Thoreau sauce . This arrived with a well-buttered and toasted bun pretzel I think). The pickled onion provided a refreshing acidity, especially with the onion rings. Lastly, I ordered a few cocktails, priced at $15 ea. The level of detail and attention to quality, such as using house made cordials, rivals much more upscale establishments. This seemed quite incongruous given the plastic serving plates and diner style interior. Nonetheless, it proved charming in the local/townie way.
The food at this restaurant is fantastic. The warm lobster roll, chicken sandwich, and roast beef were all exceptional. The clam chowder was full of clams and the fall salad was large and delicious. I absolutely adore this place!
