Ali's Roti - Boston

I am incredibly disappointed with the lack of attention to detail at this restaurant. I mentioned my allergies, yet I still received food containing those allergens! I'm grateful that I always check my food carefully, but it's clear that they don't. I’ve been coming to this place since I was 14 years old, and it’s been 30 years since my last visit. I had been told that the same high standards applied as in the past, but that's clearly not the case anymore.

The staff is friendly, and this used to be one of my favorite places to eat. However, when I visited a few weeks ago, I noticed that the food lacked the flavor it once had. I'm not sure if they made changes due to customer feedback about it being too spicy, but now the dishes taste quite bland.

The roti and filling options are crafted with care. The roti was made to perfection, boasting a delightful flavor and a flaky texture. Each item I ordered—potatoes, cabbage, chicken, string beans, and chickpeas—was seasoned beautifully. I highly recommend trying this roti. While the building itself is old, the interior of the restaurant is clean, spacious, and offers plenty of seating, making dining in a great option. For vegetarians, there are plenty of choices available for the roti.

So good! I went closer to when they opened on a Tuesday and it smelled so good just walking in. I got the curry beef, rice and peas and cabbage as well as a stewed chicken plate with rice and peas chick peas and cabbage. I also got 2 drinks. I haven't eaten this good in such a long time. So good, to the point I was lamenting I don't live close by. Worth every penny. They were nice and direct. I had an issue with a drink and they are letting me swap it out no problem.Pictures I took didn't do the food justice, which is why I didn't post them.Caribbean food NOT Asian, so you can have the right flavor expectations.There is a step up to get in, just FYI for any of us with mobility issues. Worth the trip.So glad I went and you should too. No this is not paid, after so many food disasters since moving to Mass, this was the ray of sunshine I needed. Go eat.

It was friendly, service was ok, she charged me 7 bucks for extra chicken and gave me one scoop smh. The food was good
