Caneles Baillardran Cafe - Bordeaux

In Bordeaux for a week end and this is a must see Caffe with there typical sweet cake. Love the looks of the place, the selection and quality of products. Good service, in the centre, easy to find, credit card is accepted and there's easy access to it.

We took the HOHO and were given a coupon to get a cake when we finished the tour. The cake was average. It was like a piece of sponge cake. I would not go out of my way to buy one.

Don't go to Bordeaux without trying a few Caneles! They are addictive like Portuguese tarts in Lisbon.These are some of the very best.

Caneles are everywhere in Bordeaux. However, it is not everywhere the same. According to the local friends, Caneles Baillardran Cafe is the original in Bordeaux. The shape of the Caneles resembles that of a roman column, according to my local friend. Each of us ordered an expresso from the shop and a petit Caneles accompanies it. The taste of the Caneles here has a slight trace of sweetness, which is just right. We have a good chit chat here with an additional purchase of standard size Caneles. Not sure how much it costs altogether as the friend has given us a treat!

Dropped in as we had a coupon for the local speciality cake...stayed on and had a coffee as well. Very red inside, but very comfy. Enjoyed our coffee
