Pizzeria Da Beppe - BOLOGNA

Short version: Simply the best pizza you will have in Bologna at an incredible price Long version: This place is a real hidden gem. Doesn't look like much from the outside, only a simple sign leading downstairs where you're greeted by a smiling man called Beppe who kindly points you towards the pizza menu. There are no tables to sit at, only a small space with a few stools and a wall mounted table, a counter and behind it the chef/owner. We ordered a funghi and diavola to go, and sat on the stools while Beppe rolled out the dough, sprinkled the cheese and toppings and put the pizzas in the wood oven. While waiting you can enjoy reading the many love filled handwritten messages from past clients on the wall tiles in italian, english, russian, etc. People really seem to enjoy Beppe's pizzas! As soon as the pizzas come out of the oven and fill the room with a delicious freshly baked smell, you start to understand all the positive messages. The crust is thin and crispy in the middle but also chewy and satisfying on the edges. The sauce has actual taste instead of a bland crushed tomato used by so many lesser pizzerias. The amount of cheese is just right and toppings are beautifully balanced so they don't overpower that fantastic crust. This level of quality and passion is already hard to find, but to find it in a small pizzeria managed by 1 guy on a side street and for only 5 euros (including a free drink for each pizza! is simply unbelievable. In conclusion, if you spend any time in Bologna and like pizza, do yourself a favor and visit Beppe's Pizzeria. The Beppe take away and delivery service is very good, they are fast and very kind, they offer a complimentary drink and the delivery service is free.

We are staying in Bologna for 4 days and have already gone twice for Beppe's pizza. He watches each pizza carefully in the oven and they are cooked perfectly each time. No burnt crust! The place is a little hole in the wall and I'm so glad our host recommended this pizzeria to us. Beppe himself is so kind and his eyes twinkle when he laughs : Our fave is the Paola pizza.

A true hidden gem! the pizza is delicious amd made right in front of them. the prices are amazing, the quality of the ingredients are excellent and beppe is super friendly and welcoming. beppe is a must if in bologna!

Beppe is a very friendly guy and he doesn't need to know much about English to give them that. expect a small place concentrated on takeout, with space for about four people sitting and eating, bar style. reasonable prices, the same applies to the beats and the taste.
