We explained that the sandwich was not up to standard, and her response was that they cut their tomatoes fresh every morning. After placing us on hold for two minutes, she returned with a proposition to credit us $3.50 for a sandwich that cost $8.50. When my husband asked how she arrived at that figure, she stated it was a compromise. Her demeanor was unprofessional and lacking in any sense of apology, showing no interest in resolving the issue. Plus, $3.50 is not half of $8.50. She seemed to take it personally, mentioning that she had made the sandwich herself. My husband decided to tell her to keep the $8.50 and that we would write a review about her service. She then hung up on us. The quality of service was zero, just like their supposedly fresh daily tomatoes.
The next day, when I asked my wife if she wanted to return to the same place for lunch, she said the sandwich wasn't good. We decided to call The Foodie Shack to discuss our experience. I asked to speak with the manager, who happened to have made my wife's sandwich. I explained that the tomatoes were soft and the bacon wasn't crunchy. She insisted that the tomatoes were fresh and the bacon was well done. I replied that while the bacon was indeed well done, it still didn't have the desired crunchiness. She put me on hold and then offered to give us $3.50 off our next purchase as a way to make up for the sandwich, rather than simply apologizing and offering to make it right. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
It's often very busy during rush hour, which is understandable, but their approach to handling it is unacceptable. On two separate occasions, I've ordered a panini and the staff never communicated with the "guy on the grill" (who is right there, ready to make it). I ended up waiting twenty minutes before I had to remind them that I was still waiting for my food, and they realized they hadn’t even started preparing it. All I received were apologies and, one time, a $5 gift card. Most recently, while ordering for myself and someone else (who had given me money, so I paid for their sandwich first), I was holding a soda in my hand, and the cashier snapped at me, insisting that I either purchase the soda or leave it until I did. There was a whole fridge of drinks available, and I noticed many other customers were holding drinks without any issue. I chose not to buy the soda as I didn't appreciate the attitude. Customers shouldn't be treated that way. While the food here is good, the staff's service is genuinely disappointing. I recommend seeking out a different deli in the area, as there are plenty of alternatives.
Customer service is terrible everyone is in a rush if your on line but someone they know is on line they skip over u to serve them they make you feel like ur bothering them in there and food is so so definitely wouldn't recommend
I absolutely love the Foodie Shack! They offer innovative specials that change regularly, and their soups and salads are fantastic. The service is excellent as well. It’s definitely one of the best delis on Long Island.
