Rafina Greek Taverna - Boca Raton

Last night we dined at Rafina Greek Taverna, and it was a fantastic experience. The portions were generous, and the flavors were outstanding. The chicken and lamb chops were cooked to perfection, and I couldn’t get enough of the chargrilled octopus appetizer—it was definitely my favorite. If you’re looking for authentic Greek cuisine, this place is a must-visit!

I’ve been to a Rafina twice, first at the recommendation of a friend because she said they had amazing falafel and hummus (I’m vegan) and they do. The first time I ordered off the regular menu (not happy hour) and the food was great. I saw a bunch of flies and other insects flying around the bar, but since the doors to the dining patio were opened, I chalked it up to that. I went back for a second time less than a week later, only this time, my friend and I went for happy hour. Happy hour prices are reduced but so are the portions, so how is this happy hour? The worst part is the amount of dirt that was at the bottom of the pineapple martini glass. I’m not talking about a couple of specs of dirt, I’m talking about black sludge. I sent it back and the bartender made another drink for me. Both times I went, it felt like there wasn’t a manager on staff, and if there was, s/he wasn’t doing a great job at running the floor as the wait staff were on their phones most of the time. I gave it a second chance, but I won’t go back. Dirty dining IMO. Two stars rather than one because the food was tasty but I’m turned off by the whole experience.

Everything was really good but they overcooked the pork chop

Overall our experience at Rafina was exceptional. Our server, Louisa, a delight. She was attentive, knowledgeable and didn't miss a beat. Each salad Greek and Caesar perfect. I ordered the seafood paella, flavoured mmm mouthwatering....seasoned to perfection. The lamb chops for the most part excellent, but don't order well done as one of my friends had. As this was a birthday we shared one desert, the outrageous chocolate cake. Rafina definitely has our approval.

Worst experience, service was awful. Usually very pleasant time but not last night.
