Bidrage med feedbackThe decor was charming, but unfortunately, the staff didn't smile once during my visit. The clam basket was disappointing as I could barely find any clams; the shrimp was decent, but the scallops had a strange, off-putting taste. The mayonnaise in the coleslaw also seemed off. When the staff asked if I wanted a take-home box, I replied, "Why would I want to eat bad food again?" They offered me a discount, but I insisted on paying the full bill. In the end, I gave a $20 tip just for the brief smile from my waitress. On a positive note, after my 2.5-mile drive home, the food quickly left my system. I would not recommend this place to anyone, nor would I return. I hope this review encourages them to improve both the quality of their food and the so-called Southern hospitality they claim to offer.
My mom and I arrived at the restaurant at 3:55 PM on Labor Day. We requested to sit upstairs, but the hostess informed us that it wouldn't be open until 4 PM and asked us to wait downstairs. Shortly after, other guests inquired about the upstairs, and the waitress told them they could go up, but the door was still locked. Eventually, we were all allowed upstairs, only to find a bar full of people who seemed to be friends of the bartenders. They had reserved bar stools, which meant we couldn't sit at the bar. It was puzzling to see a whole room full of people when the upstairs had just opened. Overall, the experience was quite disappointing.
We had a fantastic evening at the restaurant. As tourists from Germany, we were impressed by the extremely attentive service, and my drink was refilled multiple times. The food felt like delicious home-cooked meals, which I found very exciting. The prices were quite reasonable, too. The atmosphere had a slightly "shabby" charm, which I believe is part of the restaurant's character. There were also many locals enjoying the bar, adding to the lively vibe.
Fish and chips were horrible. Appearance and taste as if it were out of the frozen section at the grocery store.
We stopped by for lunch on our way to Hilton Head Island and enjoyed everything we ordered. It was a casual atmosphere with friendly waitresses. We had chili, fried clam strips, blackened fish and shrimp, and oysters. We would go back if we visit the area again.
