Blanco Bowling Club

Stopped here for a cheap beer and enjoy the memories of our friend's great grandmother's favorite spot in Blanco. No bowling when we were there or reservations for the weekend due to the Lavender Festival, but we will be back for their open bowling on the weekends. Takes reservations that are 8 people on a lane for $8/per person for 2-hours. They have kids setting up the pins and should be a great experience for the kids. They have $1.50 Lone Star that was a relief from the hot summer heat outside.

Sure was good; the pie that is. Six inch tall meringue with delicate coconut filling made my afternoon! Dad and I with little Rooster in tow stopped in for lunch on the way home from Marble Falls. Blanco was a tad out of the way; but we made the choice after we were to early to get lunch at our favorite Cajun dive out on 281. Dad's Roast beef lunch special didn't last long after it arrived to the table. My BLT ordered with soft bacon with a side of onion rings was great. Then the above mentioned pie made the visit a real knockout. The cafe filled up quickly as the locals poured in for the other lunch special Turkey and Dressing. I think I might be back just for that lunch option for a meager $6. The plate was piled high with Turkey and Stuffing with a side of Cranberry sauce. I sense another visit coming in the next week or so for a pie fix!

The reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 4 stars, even though I had a 4 star burger, is due to the fact that we were told by friends to order the burger and request a hand made patty. If not, you get a frozen patty and it's not nearly as good. Also we were told the burger was one of the better things they serve. Also, service was a little slow even though we were the only ones in there.

Been coming here since about 1976. Good home cooked comfort food from the diner. (Private Bowling Alley in the back. Great lunch specials! Med plate of catfish on Fridays till 2 includes three sides and tea for $6.95. Good chicken fried steak. It's usually what I get but not today... No room for dessert today tho they are delicious!
