I've never heard so much verbal abuse of employees in my life. the waitress was alone and was screamed to my other employees to do better. barking ordered when she was very busy. everyone who comes in could hear that and we felt terrible for them. they treat their hardworking employees better! will not be back.
We've been here for years. we stopped going while covid for obvious reasons. because restrictions have been lifted and we have returned, so many small things have changed that add up. they do not even wear French dressing for salads, service has worsened along with the quality of the food and portion. tonight was our last stray. our friend ordered fajitas and had so much green paprika it was ridiculous, but not to find a single wobbly, the server has never even checked on our table until the rest of us finished eating to correct it, but their eating was then stone cold. I ordered the 3 for 10.99 and the pommes were a child's meal. I went to use the restroom before I left and none of the towel dispensers worked, I ended up with my jeans. wondered if the workers wash their hands?! I don't know if we're back. it is sad that we were members of the tribe.
The place was mostly empty, you would think the food would be hot and look fresh. Not in this Case... we ordered the fajitas for two trio plate, the shrimp ice cold, stake was like shoe leather and the chicken (what you could find that is) was cold. The veggies was all onion and two straps of peppers, the only thing hot was the shells. We will never go back and never recommend this place.
The food is superb! I had the ribeye and it was cooked seasoned perfectly. My husband had the full rack of baby back ribs. The biggest problem we had was the service. She was very friendly, but the issues we had just kept stacking up. First was the drinks we ordered. They sat at the bar for a good 5 minutes before she brought them to us. Our food was delivered by someone else (no problem there) but we had to run down silverware. We asked for some kind of vinegar but she totally forgot it we didn't ask again. We had to ask for ice because the beer was so warm. I understand that everywhere has staffing problems which is why I allowed for 3 stars. That and the food was excellent. It's a shame they can't get anything else right.
It's hit or miss. Good things about chili's, free chips and salsa, the burgers, usually the service, cleanliness is decent now that they have doors on the kitchen you don't see the chip mess all the time, upgrade to the booths or retrograde I should say, way better than the high tops. Might I suggest a better training curriculum for the servers? I've been a trainer at many places, including here, and it falls short and I think that's where the disconnect comes from. I have seen a lot of complaints about service and the attitude of the servers. It's difficult to be a server at chilis especially in Blaine, there are many things that happen or don't happen behind the scenes that I think could or would have boosted the store moral, keep guest complaints at a bare minimum, and you would be able to keep staff and management. When I worked there when it first opened in blaine the standards were held high, corporate trainers came in and we trained for two weeks, learned the menus backwards and forwards, learned steps of service, fajitas came out sizzling, they didn't cut corners on ribs they did not prebatch their margaritas, which I am sorry not the same, we were tested on ingredients and actually were awarded for great service. Staff took pride in the restaurant, there were monthly outings for the trainers, had front and back of house meetings, bonding exercises, and when something new came on the menu we tried it, studied it, and were tested in it before it arrived. but now it seems chilis doesn't really have a high standard of their restaurants anymore, and it really shows through in the front of house staff. And that's when you get an attitude from the server, I see people come in and wait for a long time without being greeted, servers aren't communicating with a guest if something goes awry, maybe spend some extra money on building up your restraints moral and people might enjoy coming back!
