Hello Bagel - Blacksburg

I had a good experience at the restaurant! I tried the Siracha Sausage Bagel, which was enjoyable. However, I found it a bit pricey considering the size of the sandwich. Being from New York, where we have delis on every corner, I can't help but compare and think that our delis are on another level compared to what you'll find in the South. For my fellow Northerners, it's worth noting that there are no delis here that match what we're used to at home—I've searched everywhere, and they just don't exist. On a positive note, the staff was quick and friendly, and the restaurant itself was clean and well-organized. Overall, it was a good experience; I just wish the sandwiches were a bit more substantial.

This bagel shop excels in everything it offers. Even the simplest items are exceptional thanks to the high-quality ingredients and meticulous preparation. My favorite is the jalapeño cheddar bagel paired with their veggie cream cheese—it's absolutely fantastic! I’ve noticed they have quite a few new staff members currently, but that seems to be the case everywhere I go, so I had no unmet expectations!

I also understand that they have staffing issues, which usually means I have to wait about 25 minutes for a bagel, regardless of how busy they are. However, today was particularly frustrating. Two college students cut in front of me, and the staff immediately attended to them, even though I had already been waiting for 20 minutes with no acknowledgment. It took an unusually long time to prepare one bagel sandwich, and then I was informed after an additional 15 minutes that they were out of the type I ordered. I asked for a refund, but I’m unsure if that will even be processed. The employees seemed more focused on discussing when their shifts ended and how they had made their friends sick rather than serving customers. I left feeling extremely anxious and completely dissatisfied with the experience. I can confidently say that I will never come back.

I rarely review but have to say it?s unacceptable for a ?bagel? place to sell what seems to be day old, if not 2-day old bagels. I went this morning (Saturday) at 8:30 AM and purchased one dozen sesame bagels. All are stale. It?s not OK to bake ahead for a busy VT weekend? choose another business to be in because bagels in a bagel store should be baked that morning.

I LOVE Hello Bagel! Great spot in Blacksburg to grab a quick bite that is filling and delicious. The team does a great job at making customers feel welcomed. I have also interacted with the owner and she is very kind and welcoming. I like to think I am the Hello Bagel hype-woman.
