Wow . We had the most incredible meal at Ates: two of us shared 2 small plates and one large plate which was loads for us. Gratefully the chef made all our plates vegan most of the meals were already gluten free). We had the Jerusalem artichokes, hassleback sweet potatoes, and the risotto. It was fine dining in a warm, very friendly well informed staff, casual space. Couldn’t recommend highly enough
I wish them all the best as a business but can't give it more than 2 stars. Portions were very small and very expensive. Some of the food was well executed, some absolutely was not. Like another reviewer before me, half our group looked for a servo pie after the meal because we were still hungry despite a huge bill. Barely any meat dishes and of those meat dishes, very little actual meat. It felt like a rip off the entire evening. Still if you like interesting morsels on small share plates, this could be the place for you
Wood fire duck is a must-try, the gravy with duck juice and mandarin makes the whole dish incredible : you can also pay attention to daily special menu as ours turned out great (grilled kingfish head Good food good staff, worth to try one night on your Blue mountains trip ..!!
Fantastic dinner tonight and great way to end the week. Food was sensational
