The Spice Merchant - Birmingham

I have enjoyed the tandoori chicken and fish starter from here in the past but last night the chicken leg was a bit small and when I opened the fish container, it smelt fishy even though it had been in the tandoor. So, it was not fresh. Also, the salad container has halved in size so you get just about enough for one starter. We ordered four and only got two. Maybe, it's time to go elsewhere

I have been going to the Spice Merchant for years happily. I really like the tandoori chicken and fish starters but I have found the curries far too hot over the last year. What has changed? They seem to ladle on chilli oil. I would like to order curry with my delivery orders but they seem to have gone up a notch or two in terms of spice

We have been enjoying the food here for years until tonight. Don't know if they have a new chef, but curries were watery, lacking flavour and the peshwari naan was almost plain. So disappointed we will be looking elsewhere

I like the tandoori chicken, tandoori fish and keema matar which can be very hot. The naans are good

While in Telford purchasing a car, we unexpectedly discovered this fantastic restaurant. The service was exceptionally friendly and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend it.
