Oriental Delights - Birmingham

I've been a regular customer here for years now my favourite takeaway in the Smethwick area. Service has always been great, maybe once or twice a hiccup during busy times but the food more often than not makes up for it. Friendly staff and easy to contact if there is a delay.

Never ever again do yourself a favour and order from elsewhere... After waiting over an hour our order came upside down, there was more curry sauce was in the carrier bag and over the containers (see photo) Following a call to oriental delights I was told that as a regular that I must realise mistakes happen and that as a good will gesture I could have a free bottle of cola... mmmm I think not, needless to say our lesson has been learned in future take your custom elsewhere.

We have a lot of choice in the local area and if we are getting Chinese takeaway we always come here.

Firstly to clarify, the 1 star is simply because a star is required for a review. In all my experience of ordering food, I have NEVER! Received such disgusting service! This has been the first and most definitely the last time I will ever order from this place! I ordered my food at 18:48, with delivery estimated to be 17.25, which I believed to be fair and reasonable as I only live a 5 minute walk away! However, the delivery driver, who may I add has no manners or respect about him whatsoever was knocking on my door at 18:55, much to my surprise! I told him I did not want neither last nights leftovers or microwave food, to which he became disgustingly hostile, especially as my 3 year old was present! Started to aggressively rip open the bag the food was in shouting just look at it, it’s fine! When I tried to explain my concern regarding the food quality, he then said look do you want this docking food or what! During the full conversation with the driver he kept walking away, telling me he didn’t have time for this ****! I rang the shop to ask for an explanation as to how they cooked, packaged and delivered my food within 6/7 minutes if it was fresh! The guy on the phone who claimed his name was Eric, however I’m hesitant to believe this as he was laughing, whilst also talking to other members of staff (I’m assuming) in another language! Several sarcastic and patronising contradicting comments later, which included ‘nah I dunno how to cook’ when asked can you explain how any of the food at all was cooked fresh and delivered within such a short duration of time! ‘Eric’ also managed to contradict himself many times during our conversation. I asked for a fresh meal to be delivered to which he replied ‘we’ll see’ before putting the phone down! 45 minutes later and my phone calls are being ignored and as of yet, I’ve had no delivery! Absolutely disgusting!!!

Food was reasonably priced and came relatively fast for a Friday night. Had the salt and pepper ribs- mostly gristle and very chewy and Peking crispy chicken and kung pao chicken- both sickly sweet. Left with a greasy coating on our tongues and thirsty from the salt and msg. Not keen to try again
