Bidrage med feedbackLa Lupita has good authentic Mexican food. As a vegetarian, this is not my favorite restaurant because so many of their dishes contain meat and much of the food is also very spicy (hot). If those two things don’t bother you, you’d love this restaurant. It’s affordable and filling and I’ve been told the meat is very tasty. The menu is not entirely in English, make sure you understand what you are ordering because there are many items on the menu that give the option of chicken, beef, or beef tongue. I generally consider this a take out place even though there are plenty of tables.
Got a $20 in your wallet? Well, then come ready to eat. Taqueria La Lupita has become a standard in our restaurant rotation. The service is always friendly, even if there is a slight language barrier. We’ve found that the staff is always willing to customize the level of spice (Hot for me – mild for the hubby), and to substitute beans for chicken or beef to make vegetarian friendly dishes. We love the free homemade chips and salsa and have considered sneaking in Tupperware to smuggle some home. Be sure to save room for the main course, though. We’ve tried a number of dishes, all of them good, but the chicken fajitas remain a favorite. This isn’t Taco-Bell Mexican. The flavors are rich and complex. A cilantro-lover’s dream! Don’t skip dessert, either. The sopapillas are amazing, and one order is definitely enough to share. The ice cream is delicious in its vanilla simplicity and accents the homemade tortilla chips dusted in powdered sugar.
I am not one to write review as I am usually the one who can’t find anything she likes! First off, I can NOT eat spicy foods—— I pitch a fit when they put pepper in my food- I have no problem eating there, I simply love la Lupita. I used to get the beef sopas minus the green sauce =amazing! The salsa is a thicker sweet one which I obv love, and the portions are more than generous for the small cost. If you go there enough like we did when we lived there-they know your order! Be advised that the fijitas are made with more of a pineapple like sauce which was the only thing that I didn’t like- probably bc it was authentic! It used to be a byob but I’m not sure if it still is?
I had the courage to enter this restaurant on a Saturday evening even though it was completely empty. Now I know for sure why. I had teh carne asada which was overcooked and accompanied by some bland rice and beans. I ordered a tamal which was dry and the chicken inside was overcooked as well or probably just old. Even the chips and salsa they gave in the beginning were horrible. It tasted like they just opened a can of tomato sauce and put a little cilantro in it. NOTHING was fresh.
I like this place ………food is good and the service is very nice. My family loves this place. i love the sopapillas
