Cantina Rio - Bernalillo

We used to go to this place at least once a week. One thing that has to change is the attitude of the hostess that is usually there. She’s so nasty. She scowls at you when you are waiting at the hostess stand. There’s no greeting or smile then acts like she’s so bothered to seat you and will tell you about the slow service you will encounter. She’s not an asset and has to be related to someone to keep working there. It’s a shame because the wait staff is fine, there’s never an issue there. Food is ok but we’ll go to the Mesa Grill or Junipers bar from now on.

We spent labor day weekend at the Casino hotel with the kids. Put our name on the waiting list and let me tell you..we waited! For about 30 min. In that time, I stood watching and carefully paying attention to listen to be called. The hostess who seemed to be working around 8 on both sat and sun night seated people who came in after us. I watched as she let 5 families go ahead of us. Finally I went up and she claimed she called our name and even went walking around in the restaurant. I found that funny because she lied, didn't look us in the eye. Her response was very snobbish. In the time we got seated, I noticed how she was super extra nice to her race, and she didn't take well to us Native Americans. I observed her actions and brought it to my spouses attention. It was obvious how her manners were towards Hispanics verses the treatment towards Native Americans, rude. I'm not one to jump to conclusions, but this woman should not be allowed to host if she has difficulty towards Native Americans. Especially if it's a Santa Ana Pueblo Casino. Other than the racial experience, the food was great! That's why we went back the second night, and there she was, same attitude. Conclusions were right. She did it again. Please have a discussion with the older Hispanic hostess as the Casino has many diversity to bring in business. And I know these people who got seated with top priority and treated with great privilege, didn't have a reservation.... As I was standing close enough to hear each one ask while she said there's a 20 min wait and took each individuals name. #racist

The food offers great value for those who enjoy New Mexico-style cuisine. There are plenty of TVs to catch your favorite games, and the bar is a good size with reasonably priced drinks. The seating is spacious, so you won’t feel crowded by neighboring tables. Just a heads up: some of the chilis and spices can be quite spicy!

I’ve visited Cantina numerous times mainly for its convenience, but I have to say it’s been increasingly disappointing with each visit. Santa Ana Star really needs to encourage Cantina Rio to improve their standards. It's almost becoming unappealing.

Delicious food at an affordable price! I always enjoy stopping by when I'm at Santa Ana Star.
