Metzer Eck - Berlin

This restaurant served some of the most delicious food we ate during our recent trip to Berlin. It serves traditional German food. We ended up eating here twice during our stay because we liked it so much. We had the cold herring dish with a fresh green salad and the most yummy fried potatoes. Of course everything tasted good with the local beer. My husband had some type of apple dessert that was delicious. Eating outside is best, but inside isn't bad either. It's not a fancy place, just excellent food served in a homey neighborhood bar/restaurant.

Gut gezapftes Bier, urige Speisen wie zB. Rollmops, freundliches Personal und ein netter Gastgarten im Sommer.

Belle adresse. Vaut le détour pour son ambiance vielle auberge et pour les plats allemands de type brasserie. N'hésitez pas à goûter a l'omelette au pomme de terre. Ce plat coupera toutes les grosses faims!!

Hier fühlt man sich echt wie bei Muttern. Die Speisekarte bietet das, was man in einer Berliner Eckkneipe erwartet: vom Rollmops bis zum Schnitzel - natürlich auch Bulette. Und das Bier und die Berliner Weiße schmecken im Sommer besonders gut an den Tischen an der Metzer Straße. Lohnt sich!

We were lucky that friends who live in Prenzlauer Berg took us to this wonderful pub, the oldest in the neighborhood. It's been run by the same family since 1913.The overall atmosphere was delightful. Mixed with the "traditional" decor were photos of the family, past patrons (including many famous Germans), and the neighborhood.They serve a great glass of original Budweiser (not the yellow watery stuff that has usurped the name in the USA), and one of our party had their glugwein and also pronounced it excellent.We enjoyed a nice little bowl of excellent tomato soup with out drinks. They have lots of pork and sausages on the menu and very little "vegetarian" food, although they offered to make us a vegetarian potato salad. We thought that was very accommodating of them.We really loved the place and hope we get another chance to drop by.
