Absolutely fabulous meal!! I asked for recommendations on a good Norwegian meal, and they suggested the duck with orange sauce. It was so, so good! They are very knowledgeable about gluten/celiac disease, and the waiter even offered gluten free table bread. Highly recommend. The restaurant also has wonderful views of the Nidelva!
Very cool interior and atmosphere. The Waitress was great helping with my food allergies and said they could adapt almost anything to be gluten free and dairy free. They even brought me great gluten free bread and aoli for it. So good. It is pricey, but it clearly caters to tourists because the menu is in Norwegian and English.
Recommended by local during my honeymoon. Restaurant was well decorated, service is prompt in respective to Norway's standard. Most if not all server can speak English. Food menus have English description as well. Food was amazing! Definitely delicious. However, not as authentic Norwegian as I originally thought. While it's not cheap, I think the food was definitely worth it. It was not casual attire. Dressy. Be prepare to spend at least 450 NKR per person. Large serving, wonderful desert. Will come again!
Talk about first impressions. When we called for a reservation I was blown away with the friendliness and enthusiasm. Nice start. We arrived and were seated right away and they were very accommodating when we asked to switch tables. Our waitress was extremely attentive and noticed all the little things throughout the evening, be it a water top up, clearing dishes or checking to see if we needed something else. I felt special to say the least and you can 't ask for better than that. Too bad she couldn 't hit the wine glass though when pouring : We had the 3 course daily special and an appetizer and main. The daily special featured a tuna caprese with arugula and parmessan shavings. Very tasty and beautifully presented. Interesting touch with the pomegranate seeds. The main was wild boar on a bed of mushroom risotto. Full of flavour. The first piece, from the outside of the cut, was a little tough but after that, perfection. The appetizer was the scallops on a pea puree. Delicately cooked with great depth of flavour. I followed that with the reindeer. First time for reindeer, me thinks the last. It was cooked nicely and the wild berry sauce made for a nice contrast. However, I 'll respect Santa and not order it again (nothing to do with the restaurant The cabbage and potato sides were well done. The one thing we noticed was the generous portions of meat. The tiramisu dessert with the daily special was rich and creamy presented beautifully on a sugar cocoa dusted plate. Full of colour and taste. A couple of little things that were less than ideal. The serving of wine. Yikes. I 've not seen a glass of wine that small except when my kids were five and we were introducing them to the juice of the grape. The olive oil for the bread dipping was a little bitter and we found the table a bit 'tight '. We weren 't the only ones in the restaurant knocking things over due to the crowded space. So overall a very enjoyable evening. Now I 'll go put my house up for sale so I can pay for it all Special bonus were the washrooms. Decorated with great imagination with lights and mirrors. Very unique.
