Bidrage med feedbackI absolutely love the food at this restaurant. The Palak Paneer is simply delicious and the Goat stew is top-notch. The lunch specials are amazing, with a variety of options to choose from. For just $7.99, you get a cup of lentil soup, a small salad, basmati or brown rice, and 2 naans. Parking is easy and the service is efficient and friendly. It's a great spot for comfort food with the option to choose your spice level. I give it 5 stars.
We typically rate Himalaya Tandoori as a 4 to 5-star dining experience and visit frequently. The food goes beyond the standard Indian restaurant fare without a significant price increase. Most of the time, both the service and food are at a 5-star level. However, tonight's visit was slightly different as they had allowed their liquor license to expire, resulting in the temporary inability to serve alcohol, and there were some minor service issues. Despite this, it was still a wonderful overall experience and we plan to continue returning regularly.
This restaurant offers a unique menu not typically found in other Himalayan restaurants. Despite the sharp raw onions in the salad, the combination of tomato, mozzarella, avocado, and basil with a hint of Indian spices in the dressing was enjoyable. The pumpkin chicken and coconut lamb curries were both delicious, and the short grain brown rice was a flavorful choice. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the service could be improved. There were issues with the dinner plates being left dirty from the salad dressing and a lack of serving spoons provided. These minor details could be easily addressed with additional server training. Overall, this restaurant shows promise and has the potential to excel with some adjustments.
Four of us came in for an early pre-show dinner and were the first diners at 5:30pm. Maybe I was expecting too much based on previous reviews, which were by-and-large very positive. Our water was a newbie because we had to repeat our drink and dinner orders to him several times. The highs: good but small wine list, generous portions, comfortable ambience, and the wonderful yellow lentil soup. The lows: Amateurish service, bland food and seasonings, no complementary Naan, dry and overcooked meats in the Mixed Tandoori grill, an appetizer that seemed to be right out of the microwave oven. With so many great restaurant choices in Albany/Berkeley, I have to say that our consensus was the place rates only 2 stars on the night we dined there.
Always fresh, delicious, the cheese naan is AMAZING!!! Fish tandoori, palak paneer and butter chicken are so favorites. Everything is so good. I always bring friends and family here if they enjoy Indian food.
