Fish Bird Sousaku Izakaya - Berkeley

Eating is good. the sea bean empura was a highlight and I would highly recommend it. the bask cheesecake was also super the themes were more with the timing of the dishes and the entire service. we ordered a few things and all the fish that lasts 30 40 minutes. we have almost everything in 8 minutes, up to the point that we had to start combining the dishes to make space for the latest dish on a table for 2. then we waited about 30 minutes for the fish. only bad planning. the dessert took much longer than any of the delicious Entree dishes. we also got the Sashimi-Platter, but no one told us what the fish was when he was thrown off. that made confusion when we wanted more of something we had eaten, and nobody knew what it was. that said the staff was very friendly and great to chat with, happy to the guy we talked to, who will soon get married! overall a really great place to go to eat, but would benefit from some service training.

I love everything here. the food was decent and the ingredients were fresh, but too expensive. I recommend her cocktails! they not only look pretty, but also really taste good! Eating, I recommend their grilled saba and bark tataki. the kaisen don, kurobuda nabe hot pot soup and fried chicken were decent, but they were not worth the price. Note: they no longer serve wagyu bbq set.

I'm here 4 times and it's a place where I love to experience friends. the atmosphere, the cocktails and the menu as well as the fact that everything is delicious, keeps me back. my favorite cocktail is on your toes. oh, and the barkeepers are brilliant, so don't miss out on the bar.

Food wasn't bad but was a bit salty. I guess thats so you wash it down with lots of beers starting at 11 besides a 5 12oz can of Asahi . 28 hot sake guess we should have gotten 2 14 cocktails instead . Not sure why my review is so focused on drinks but at a Izakaya it goes without saying to have some drinks with the food... i would quickly go broke here. Guess that's the bay area though. Service itself seemed good overall. Just for the price I don't think we would go back or recommend to others.
