Bidrage med feedbackAlthough fr/the outside is not very impressive and easy to miss when you are shading down, chez panisse serves excellent dishes w/professional and yet warm friendly service. a Prix Fixe menu is offered that changes daily, and can contain an appetizer, salad, duck and dessert. the interior is small, picturesque and cozy... feels like eating in an upscale wooden house. I had only one chance to eat here – but they have a café on the upper floor, which is supposed to be almost as good (can not be as high quality), but of course, "Keaper" as their fine menu.
Oh, yes, it's so good when I go there with my girlfriend... 3 or 4 Apetizer, 2 Entrees and 2 Deserts
I wasn't as enthusiastic about food as expected. The ingredients are very fresh and the food cooked well, but I think the flavors are too easy. I like many dimensions of flavors in my food and the food is basically salty and not much else. I understand that it is the Alice Waters philosophy to have simple food with simple flavors, but it is not entirely my thing. But your duck is amazing and melts in your mouth.

There’s not much to say that hasn’t already been said. The food downstairs is wonderful. Some of the dishes at the cafe upstairs are hit-or-miss. Also, the Navarro Vineyards grape juice is awesome.
