Bidrage med feedbackSince we had two dates in the city at noon, we were looking for a lunch at the Bergisch Gladbach Zentrum. So why not a Greek restaurant? It is located directly on the market square in the Bergisches Löwen. We were over a lot, but never returned. The homepage didn't look so bad. The restaurant opens daily. Ambiente Pluspunkt: In good weather there is an outdoor area, the places are properly distributed in the room, the tables stand on at least two levels. The furnishings correspond to the typical Greek style: wood, bright walls, pictures, statues, masonry. The tealights were equipped with lights in changing colors. Pepper and salt shakers stood on the table. Minus point: There is no wind protection at the entrance. Every time the door was opened, a cold touch went through the room. Cleanliness There were still small crumbs on the table runner. It was clean covered, a small paper napkin long at cutlery. The toilet facilities are located in the basement. The area is huge. There are some seats in front of the toilets. Large guests can stay here at the same time. But there was a urinal covered with foil and a door was closed – probably defective parts. The hand wash basins were well maintained. There were also neon lights in changing colors. Service An elderly man was probably a kind of Maitre. He wore ties. His appearance was very friendly and empathic. He took the order and picked him up. Otherwise another woman and a young man ran through the square. That was a lot of staff. The card(s) lunch, breakfast, coffee and cake, large menu – It is open from morning to evening. Tasting We chose two dishes from the lunch card that includes eight offers. Plus: In no case is there a soup, some bread on the way and a dessert afterwards: such a real trifle menu. Minus point: The two rollers looked very good from the outside. They even had an egg yolk color and shined beautifully as well as some grains above. But when we took them in the hand, they were pretty heavy and got strong after yeast. And a bite confirmed the worst fears: The dough was very solid or compact and unpleasant in taste. Somehow there were problems in the fermentation process. We didn't eat them anymore. But it was just a supplement and not a main component. The soup was probably a potato cream soup. It was hot and neat in taste; it showed typical aromas of strawberries and some vegetables and some herbs. The dessert was a chocolate pudding with cream cubes. He reminded me of the pudding with my mother: Dr. Oetker Chocolateria whole milk chocolate. He tasted for chocolate, was quite creamy and had a soft chocolate skin on top. The cream was spray cream. This was not a culinary art, but a wonderful childhood memory. Caesar Salad: chicken fillets, rag onions, tomatoes with a special dressing as well as croûtons, walnuts and parmesan – €10,50 The meat was thin and therefore unfortunately very dry. The crowd was good. The pieces of bread were well represented. They were relatively crispy. The salad leaves were fresh. Tomato pieces, spring onions and nuts were also included. The cheese was cut into pin shape and properly distributed. However, the bright salad sauce was probably a finished product and was tastefully a little in the need of reconciliation. The whole taste was then marked. But why does my wife also order a Caesar Salad in a Greek restaurant? She just wanted a simple nice salad with chicken meat. But he didn't tell her. Grill plate: Gyros, liver, souvlaki; with pommes, tsatsiki, onions and salad – 11,90 € Pros: The plate was well loaded, the parts were well distributed. The amount of meat was huge, it was also relatively slim. The Pommes were not too salty, but rather mild. They had a golden yellow color outside. Fresh red onions were used. These are not so sharp and have a good taste. The additional salad consisted of fresh leaf salads, slightly turbulent tube, tomatoes, cucumber and corn. The Tsatsiki Paste was housed in a separate glass bowl. Cons: The gyros had become too dry, it had to be chewed a lot. The meat was cut too thin without much spices and too little fat or oil. The spear was also only fried externally, but otherwise quite hard. The liver pieces were in the undernumber. She was cooked too long, but still a little juicy and not yet leathery. So the best of the record. The pommes were perhaps kept warm because they were dry and slightly soft in the mouth. The paste was unfortunately not as expected in taste: a yogurt was certainly used; because this was clearly felt. But I felt nothing about cucumber, garlic, vinegar and olive oil. For me a yogurt mix with a herbal flavor. The thin, colourful salad sauce was also not intended to support the actual ingredients of salad and vegetables, but to destroy them. Beverages Selters classic 0,75 l – 4,90 € Price performance ratio Actually a favorable price for a saturating lunch menu. But if we don't taste too much, because I don't have enough money to eat cheap. Conclusion 2 – rather not anymore. Searching for simple but tasty dishes at moderate prices must therefore continue in Gladbach. We already have some addresses that promise a safe quality. But the curiosity of new experiences makes us always visit unknown places. (1 – certainly not again, 2 – hardly again, 3 – when it returns, 4 – again happy, 5 – absolutely again – after “Kuechenreise” Visit date: 11.02.2019 – lunch – two people My pleasant experiences are also in [here link]
We were eating in mountaineering and were very well served and eating was a pleasure experience. we also got how the good-looking cook offers guests a special menu. and we were just thrilled.more sooooooo
Nice restaurant with tables outsite on the market place. Nice outside places enableing to watch passing by pedestrians by enyoing either drinks or typical greek or european food.
Glad we were with English speaking german friends to explain the menu. The food and wine list was quite restricted and had a greek style emphasis. Large portions and reasonably priced. Situated in the older part of the town so only really accessible on foot...or by taxi.
