Bouchon - Bendigo

Had a beautiful meal , escargot were amazing , cooked to perfection , followed by steak which was equally good .The waitress kept our wine chilled in the fridge but as she got busier was harder to get her attention to keep our glasses filled A ice bucket would have relieved all this pressure and probably encourage customers to drink more.

Intimate but not too small dining space inn the centre of town. Just one waitress on duty but she performed magnificently covering the 24 pax having dinner elegantly the Tuesday we were there. On Tuesday - Thursdays they offer Prix Fixe Menu of 2 courses for $45 or 3 for $55 which is remarkable value for the standard of food we enjoyed. selected the charcuterie board starter then two specials off the 'mirror' board plus a side of beans and almonds. The menu is small but concise, the food taste and presentation wonderful and I can tell prepared with passion.

I recently enjoyed a beautiful french dinner at Bouchon. I was dining with a local ladies food club. The food, wine and ambience was perfect to replicate a typical French dinner. Congratulations to Travis and the team.

We visited Bouchon for lunch. We noted all the Good Food Guide recommendations on the window and thought it had to be pretty good. The waiter was very nice, the bread and butter beautiful and the two glasses of wine were excellent. Everything started great and we really looked forward to our meal. We had ordered lamb rump with haricot beans. The beans were very nice but no better than I serve at home but the lamb was almost inedible. It was so gristly and the meat so tough that we had to leave a lot of it on our plates. Unheard of for me!! As it was only a small portion ( We did not expect a huge serve anyway) we left feeling very hungry indeed and $50.00 worse off. Next time we come to Bendigo we will return to The Dispensary in Chancery Lane which has excellent food. So sad that Whirakee has closed!

Some really good French food here. Well worth the price. They were able to cater for a 'special' diet at short notice. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. The waitress knew the menu well and was able to offer insights and advice. One of Bendigo's best restaurants.
