Sushiya Japanese Cuisine - Bellevue

Next to the Marriott. Very good sushi and tempura, great service. Always busy at lunch.

My family lives about four blocks from Sushiya. We go there twice a month with the kids. We really enjoy the sushi and the quality is outstanding. The wait staff is often the family that runs it last time we were there two weeks ago the owners son was taking orders and he was preparing the food. He always makes a special trip to our table to say hello to our young children and brings them plastic swords to play with. Happy hour prices are very good and the dinner prices are normal for good sushi. If you like good quality food and supporting local business owners, go here. You won't be disappointed.

This place rates 5 east coast stars and probably 4 west coast stars. The sushi is great to my tastes. The rolls and concept aren 't ultra-refined, but that 's okay. This is decent sushi made competently with very good quality ingredients. There will certainly be 'better ' sushi restaurants out there doing more avant-garde things, or focusing on a more refined and 'authentic ' experience but Sushiya ably accomplishes everything it sets out to do, and that deserves praise as well.

The chicken teriyaki was probably the best my wife has ever had. The veggies that came with it were, literally, perfectly done. My sushi was very tasty. Full of flavor, you can tell they only use quality fish. I'm not a fan of tempura, but the house tempura is definitely worth trying. Last time we went they were down a couple of staff members and we're pretty busy, but, even with all that, I was actually surprised at how quickly (relatively speaking) the food came out and how on top of, most everything, our server was. Honestly, we will be coming back, and it's definitely the sushi spot I will be suggesting when people ask. Well done and thank you.

I live in Portland, but I try to visit Sushiya on nearly every trip to Bellevue. I've been a dozen times now and I have never been disappointed. We don't have a sushi restaurant in Portland that compares. The fish is always fresh and the rolls are truly amazing. Get the volcano roll! Amazing presentation and taste.
