Eckert's Country - Belleville

I was so excited to go there, I've never been there before, however I will not go back, I have to be on a gluten free diet, and their options are not great, I wish I would have taken a picture, my plate consisted of a plain burger and little potatoes, no lettuce or tomato or anything, I asked for it and they were happy to get it, my daughter in law apologized for taking me there. Very disappointed.

I've been in the STL are pretty much my whole life and never made it over to Eckert's, so I was very excited to visit in Oct during apple season. I had planned to meet a friend there on a Saturday and we made reservations for the restaurant (our main draw). The Country Restaurant is just one of many wonderful things Eckert's has to offer. My grandfather and father and myself all moved to St. Louis as young adults (3 separate moves that is) and all had a love for Eckert's that has been passed down and spread. I do not typically eat at the restaurant, but a group of friends caught their special brunch for a birthday celebration and the food was great. It had been over a decade since my last visit to the Eckert's restaurant, and boy do I regret that! We got there pretty close to closing time (not egregiously so) on a Sunday but the food was still excellent and served with a smile! I loved the house salad and its dressing, and my wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed our dumplings and pot pie entrees. Much better than the country store competition!
