Fox Hounds - Bedford

We had been previously and been very pleased with the meal so for a special Birthday lunch we once again booked here. We were advised that there was no special lunch menu on Saturdays, and several things on the restricted menu were unavailable. I chose to have Dover sole on buttered vegetables, The meals arrived quite quickly my sole was fried in breadcrumbs, and overcooked the buttered vegetables could have been anything with no flavor and a kind of mashed consistency with a very runny sauce accompaniment. For dessert 3 of us decided on the fruit crumble and custard this arrived with custard in a small jug, two of our party asked for extra custard as the jugs were only half full. The waitress said we would have to pay for extra custard we agreed. However, when the bill arrived we were charged £4.50 for the custard. what a rip-off almost the price of another desert.As it was a special meal we just paid up, but we will not be returning

Really friendly staff and lovely food, had such a nice night here! Burger was lovely and some fab desserts! Couldn’t be happier with our experience, everyone was happy in our big group and staff were very accommodating

Service awful food when it arrived not correct then was told didn’t have what we ordered ended up not eating and it was supposed to be a celebration. Won’t go back

We were warmly welcomed as we arrived and our drinks order was taken at a table of our choice. The wooden beams and log burner were welcome on a cold January day. The beer was well kept and the service very good. Our meals were delicious chicken, bacon and avocado salad and a liver, bacon and mash. Lots of special days eg Welly Wednesday with beef wellington on offer are a lure to bring us back! Thanks

A very good village pub with spacious bar area and restaurant. Went on Thursday lunch time with a group of friends. Good selection of well kept beers. Food was excellent and the service very friendly and helpful
