Danish Camp - Bedford

Unfortunately, we noticed that most of the empty tables, including ours, had not been cleared, which was not a good impression for the restaurant. After looking at the menu and prices, we found that the ice cream was quite small for the price of £3. Coupled with the lack of acknowledgment from the staff, as well as reviews indicating a decline in quality, we were hesitant about dining there in the future. We may return for a coffee when out for a walk or bike ride, but until we hear better reviews or recommendations, we will keep our visits limited.

Located in a picturesque spot surrounded by trees along the River Ouse, this restaurant offers limited seating inside the main building. However, there are plenty of tables available on the veranda, outdoor decking, and grassy bank next to the river. The food was beautifully presented, hot, and delicious. Although it was my first time visiting, I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning in the future.

We had a delightful Wednesday excursion to Bedford from Danish camp along the Ouse on the Artful Dodger Boat with Roy, Gail, and Ozzie the owl at 10:30 am. We returned from Bedford bridge at 3 pm with our daughters and grandchildren. We had the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife, such as kingfishers, herons, swans, ducks, moorhens, dragonflies, a water stick insect, and fish, although we unfortunately missed seeing any otters. During the 2 1/2 hour trip, we went through three locks and passed under numerous bridges, which kept both kids and adults entertained. The boat had a full bar and offered snacks, soft drinks, tea, and coffee. We arrived back at 5 pm, making it a full day trip. Roy and Gail were attentive and kind, ensuring that we had a truly wonderful experience.

Lovely venue looking out onto the river. If you get onto the terrace you have an even more beautiful view. Lots of tables. Food was standard pub fare but good value and cooked as expected. Price was reasonable. They also have ice creams and cakes so you can go for tea and cake etc. Option to hire motor boats as well. Would go again if the weather is good then it’s an absolute added bonus due to the views. Service good and staff really helpful.

Great stop while paddling along the river. Ice cream, snacks and meals if you fancy it. Nice facilities and friendly staff.
