L'Essentiel Restaurant - Beaune

Went there as family of 6. Great place with very reasonable menus starting at 20 euros for 3 courses. Kids menus are half-price.Each dish is delicious and presented artistically. Wines are also by the glass with a fine choice. Very recommendable place with nice decor...and friendly service.

After finding one restaurant after another that only did one sitting per night and discouraged travellers by requiring reservations .. or.. who took their vacation in July to avoid tourists. This place was a big relief. Food was good and the server was very pleasant....The restaurant was not very busy and that was a relief. Food was very nicely presented on the plate.

The restaurant is comfortable and relaxed, the service is very professional, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu (I have a nutritional restriction,) and eating is delicious and plentiful. safe for celiacs that require gluten free sans gluten. they tell them. about their food restrictions when they make their reservation. I had no problems eating here.

We booked for 7:30 pm on a Wednesday evening in August and were the only diners for a while but by 8:00 pm the there was a good crowd and a pleasant atmosphere. The waitress was friendly and very efficient considering the number of tables...she had to cover alone. we were never ignored. We decided on the traditional menu at €26 which effectively provided a free dessert or cheese compared to the same dishes taken from the a la carte menu. Everything we had was very well cooked and presented on some interestingly designed plates. My steak was perfectly cooked medium rare. My wife’s cod had a tasty turmeric and wine sauce. I had the cheese to finish and I was advised to eat the 3 pieces in a specific order. It worked! Nice to see a selection of half bottles of local wines price sensibly compared to the equivalent full bottles. Happy to recommend.

The grey frontage did nothing to intice the customer but inside the varied menu and friendly staff did everything to make our visit memorable. Good locally sourced food was well cooked although the wines were on the pricey side.
