A cozy and comfortable place to stay in the most beautiful location, with good regional food and atmosphere. we always stay with this little gem when we can.
My partner came last year about this chalet while he drove into the alps, and could not believe the beauty of the opposite. he brought me here for four days for a hiking holiday. the chalet is located at the most spectacular place directly at the rande of a reservoir surrounded by bergen. the room had the view! and was clean and comfortable. the evening meal was good and seemed to be better, each evening we were there. the only light drain was the breakfast, which consisted of maisflakes or chocolate corn, each a doughnut (to breakfast)? and a roll with butter and jam, orange juice and tee and coffee. where was the famous continental breakfast? all these beautiful French baked and croissant? we wondered if we could have a breakfast that they liked to have, although it was added as an addition to our bill. overall a beautiful place to stay, and I would be back in a heartbeat. perfect as basic for mountain hikes. please, improve the breakfast!
This is one of several eateries located on the edge of the most stunning lake, sadly its the first you come to, and you cannot see the others, but trust me, they are there, so drive past this one. We arrived around 1.30pm, sat ourselves...down, and started looking at the menu. The staff walked past us several times, once asking the dogs if they needed a drink, but not us! Some 40 minutes after we arrived, and having received placemats and cutlery, but still no offer of drinks the waitress finally asked us what we wanted to order. Drinks, and main courses ordered, we were hopeful. The place was steady, but not busy, most tables had dirty crockery waiting to be cleared. nearly 45 minutes after we ordered, we finally got our food, and it wasnt worth the wait at all. The chicken was dry, clearly overdone, with a distinct lack of the beaufort sauce it was described as having. The tartiflettes were small, quite tasty but also quite obviously tinned! If you have chips, be sure to like salt as they arrive salted for you.. heavily! Eventually, after we had finished, we were asked if we would like coffee. We ordered some. 30 minutes later, we went to re order it, as it had not arrived, and all attempts at catching the waitress had failed... Over all, we were there for 2.5 hours, having stopped for a quick bite and 25 euros each later, we left hungry, and with no time left to take the walk we had planned. If they had been busy, it would be a little understandable, but it wasn 't. The only good thing was the view which is available at any of the other restaurants around the lake...
