Bidrage med feedbackIt was to cold to sit outside by the riverside so we went in and were greeted by the smoking patron and his dog.Anyway stuck with if and all was well. Starter of Mussels and crevettes followed by rack of lamb and veal kidney' over tagliatelle. The meal was good the ambience of the room a little low and the service a little slow. Wide ranging wine list a fairly modest prices. The dog came to the table to say goodbye!
I booked this restaurant for a birthday celebration as I passed by. When I checked reviews on trip advisor I was worried that we might have a bad meal. As it turned out we had a great meal. The menu was not that easy to disentangle but the food was good. Some of us had excellent oysters to start and some of us had mussels cooked with Bayonne ham and chorizo, delicious. Plenty of fish on the menu, some had excellent scallops while I had a perfectly cooked rack of lamb. After I had a generous portion of local Brebis cheese. Others had Rum Baba. The birthday girl had a mission to find the best Rum Baba in a Bayonne and this was the best she found, and it came with a musical candle for her birthday. All was washed down with a couple of bottles of Cote de Gascogne White, a bargain at 18 euros. I had a very good glass of red with my lamb. The service was excellent. This restaurant does not deserve to be ignored.
On approaching the entrance to read the menu we had to step over a mound of dog mess next to the outdoor seating. The likely culprit then appeared out of the restaurant - a cavalier spaniel (the owners dog ??) He was followed by a young waiter on his mobile phone, smoking and looking extremely bored. CHARMING We beat a hasty retreat so we cannot comment on the interior, standard of food etc as we were not willing to chance it. If anyone does "go in" we would be interested to read their review. Read some of the French review translations!! Incidentally, the mess was still there 2 days later.
