Lion d'Or - Bayeux

We are well traveled including Europe so we know what to expect but the start of our evening was especially slow with the first visit for water occurring 20 mins after seating and the amuse bouche and first glass of wine at almost an hour. The waiter never came back to take a cocktail order before dinner in spite of my saying I wanted a cocktail. The food quality was mediocre. It wasn’t bad but it certainly wasn’t great. Some items were better than others. Most of staff was very pleasant and helpful and actually even responsive after dinner was underway but the terribly slow (and rude) start made a lasting impression. Given the expense, the value just wasn’t there and in good conscience I don’t think I could recommend this place. I definitely would never return. To make it worse the atmosphere was drab very hot with zero air movement inside and the music choice of 2000’s American pop didn’t match the vibe at all. Sadly, this just feels like another overpriced tourist trap.

We are tourists to Bayeux and wanted to share a special dinner. This exceeded all of our expectations. The service was excellent just the right level of attentiveness. The courses were timed beautifully. We ate from the Savour menu with the wine pairings and loved each and every dish. We tried new foods (artichoke and eel lasagna? Amazing) and thought each bite was better than the last. Dessert (daisy chocolate dish) was very special. Perhaps the best dessert course I’ve ever had. The wine pairings were done exceptionally well. We thought we would have a good meal. But we were treated to an exceptional one. The price would have been appropriate had it been double what we paid. We cannot recommend this restaurant or meal any more than we do. A special culinary experience. Thank you!

Very beautiful table, fresh products and map sought. Service a little medium. a nice address in bayeux.

We came with a wonderbox very good reception which is very rare with this formula unfortunately excellent gastronomic cuisine excellent service great kindness from all the staff address to remember absolutely on bayeux do not hesitate to stop there.
