Nuf´ Said Waroeng - Batu Layar

Great little place about 150m down the beach from the Holiday Resort Inn. Had two dinners and a lunch there. Flavours were good but was a bit hit and miss. Beef rendang was flavoursome bit a very small serve, not worth 40k rupiah, let alone 85k. We splurged on the seafood spread once night, 750k which is a lot of money, and maybe with half that. The stupid crab took about 45min to pick through for maybe 2 teaspoons of meat. About 6 prawns, a piece of fish, 2 lobsters which were delicious but only maybe 100g of meat. Ayam Goreng was the pick of the dishes. For all the issues, the location is fabulous right in the beach and it's half the price or less than what you'll pay at the Holiday Inn. The reason why this warung is so popular is because they serve fresh grilled fish at a fraction of cost than the resort resto. And it is worth every penny. Had the barracuda, snapper, mahi mahi, and another fish I forgot the name of but they were all tasty and fresh. Each plate comes with rice, sambal, and some vegetable garnish 75k per plate. Cant get this kind of value at any other place, especially one on the beach with an unobstructed view of the sunset. We stayed at the nearby Holiday Resort but dislike the á la carte options so thankfully this warung is just a few steps away. The vendors are annoying and it's best to avoid eye contact if you just want to enjoy your meal in peace. It is a public beach so they are unavoidable. But they are just trying to make a living so if you're interested in sarongs, bracelets, or paintings feel free to support them.
