Bidrage med feedbackI ordered 2 fishcakes, and as they had none ready, they made 2 up and put them in to cook. They looked OK, but all you could taste was fat inside them. Having worked in catering and in a fishop many years ago cooking, I realised they had put them in fat/oil that was not hot enough, and so it then soaks up the oil/fat inside the fishcakes. Had they got the oil up to a hotter temperature, this would have sealed the fishcakes and there would have been no fatty taste in them. The owner either needs to train his fish fryer better or put someone in who knows how to cook properly. I won't be going there again, it was great at the opening but has now gone downhill fast
Gave wrong order to wrong customer and was charged, apparently still under investigation and still no refund useless staff don’t have a clue what they are doing out of pocket and no resolution what so ever, avoid at all cost.
The quality of the restaurant has declined, as the fish was not served hot. What was most disappointing was that they only accept cash. It would be expected for a business of their size to accept other forms of payment, considering how many people do not carry cash. I had to find a local cash machine and return in order to pay for the meal, which ended up being disappointing.
It appears that the restaurant has declined in quality. It used to be good, but my recent visit was disappointing. The fish was cold and the batter was soggy, as if it had been sitting out for hours. The chips were also cold and unappetizing. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I won't be returning. I felt like I had to work three hours just to pay for this meal. The staff seemed uninterested and unengaged.
My mum who has mental health and learning difficulties regularly visited mother hubbards in batley, she ranted and raved about how great it was to me. The staff are usually lovely and friendly and was very sweet on the occasion I visited last. Speaking to her today after her visit to mother hubbards today though, I was horrified to hear that she'd been treated badly, the lady behind the counter had been snarky to my mum and her carer and presented a bad attitude towards them, my mum struggles with her legs and usually sits at the small bench in the waiting area. there were no other customers in there so she sat on the waiting area bench and was shouted at for sitting. She was snapped at for asking for a drink. Safe to say she will be going somewhere else in future. Heavily dissapointing. Shame because the food is great.
