We visited for the first time rooted for the birthday of my mannes, in the week, and chose the 6-course option and the accompanying wine journey (with alcohol-free options for non-drinks or those who expect. from the Japanese aromas of the kitchen 's amuse-bouche hallo to the additional birthday help of sweet farewell, this meal was a joy. the aromen range from delicate and subtle to rich and rounded, with oriented that represent all the options: fish, meat, milk and vegetables. the classic root plate of the seasonal vegetables was excellent, and the fun to guess each component, enhanced the experience! the wine journey was an excellent game presented for each plate and the alcohol-free options were so good that they will definitely make one appear in our refrigerator. I recommend the choice of this option. (I can also say that after only one week in sardinia, the coffee served to close the evening was one of the best I ever tasted! The restaurant atmosphere is quiet, elegant and comfortable, with a picturesque view of the Rhine in the night. the servier staff was attentive, polite and knowledgeable, and the handwritten welcome card was a truly hearty touch that I would like to keep as memento a wonderful evening. bravo to the chefs for their excellent work (and thank you again for the second round of the delicious tasty! – we will soon visit with family and friends again!

What a surprise. After so many years I haven't tested this place, it was a mistake. Apparently for a 1 Michelin Star, you wait for something good, and you'll be served. The service from the beginning to the end was more perfect and the food gains power during the meal. The cook has concept beautiful combination that explodes in your mouth. Highly recommended with correct price for quality.

Roots is by far my favorite restaurant in Basel if I want something extraordinary. They simply tell them about allergies and everything you do not like, and they prepare all courses around this, taking into account all your diet considerations. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and the food is from this world. Not only the presentation, but also the pairings and flavor combinations are an artwork and the attention to detail imposing. I recommend Roots when you visit Basel. They won't be disappointed.

This is my new favourite restaurant in Basel. Great atmosphere, fantastic food, good wine collection, super friendly and the food looks just stunning. The only thing I would improve is the temperature control inside the restaurant, it got unbearably hot for us, opening a few windows at that price point is not cutting it!

A talented young chef who is creative with local and seasonal ingredients. The table waiting staff were professional and friendly. Would be happy if they emphasize more on good local organic wines to go with their local food !! Would go back anytime !
