Café-Bar Elisabethen - Basel

This café probably offers the best value for money in Basel. Incredibly cakes and coffee, very good for lunch and dinner as well. They also have a nice selection of alcoholic drinks and you can enjoy a sundowner in front of a church.

Oh what a lovely little find. The young chap that served us was quick, witty polite. Good coffee a lovely meal, amazingly not bad prices for Switzerland. I had the Melenzana (Aubergine) dish my partner had the tagliatelle bolognaise. Both of these were really good. We sat on tables in front of the church where they have umbrellas for shade, as it is a sun trap. We finished up chatting to lots of other customers who loved the place too. Pat Terry from London

There are outdoor and indoor sitting. Outdoor sitting is very much weather dependent while indoor sitting will enjoy the peace as the setting is in a quiet church. Menu was simple and prices are reasonable, a good place to rest the legs or simply just enjoy some peace

Worth a visit! Combine with climbing stairs inside the church to see the city. Best coffee! They know how to serve it, happens not often!
