Bidrage med feedbackThis is certainly not a place to read. If you stay there too long and don't spend enough money in your eyes, they ask you more. They also told me that I'm going to the back of the diocese when I'm coming, which I found quite rude. There were only a few people in the bistro. I am a neighbor and regularly go to coffee shops in the neighborhood, also to support them, but this one I will definitely leave in the future!
A basic café in Tram #1 line (Birmannsgasse). The people who walk the square welcome you at the entrance and were nice. During this short visit I had only a hot tea served with a small packaged cookie. The place just keeps it with hot/cold drinks and alcoholic drinks. They did not offer milk substitute products on the menu. During the breakfast hours, most customers I have observed were just coffee or tea and/or croissant, nothing else. There are newspapers for guests, but no Wi-Fi.
If you are hungry and on a fairly tight budget, this is the place for lunch. They offer two types, one of them a spaghetti deal at CHF 14.50 (which I had, the other one a daily changing menu at CHF 16.50. My lunch deal included a salad starter, followed by a huge pile of spaghetti napoli (the sauce is up to you to choose and was rounded off by a dessert of vanilla ice cream with rasperry topping. The food was quite fine, not exactly wonderful, natural, but fill and very fair in view of the bill (hold, you can hardly prepare the same meal at home for this price! . The place is centrally located about ten minutes walk from downtown, is quite new and light, with many windows, but not exactly in a picturesque environment (right at a crossroads and a tram stop). However, its hosts are friendly, and the service is fast and efficient and the facilities are clean. All in all, recommended.
It's nice to sit outside (with 35 degrees there's always a nice air!) or inside (to the windows, big, and with view on the humanity that goes and comes,) sip a good beer and served very well (it's not everyone!,) to have 4 chat with our guest who always has a kind word and a smile for everyone. the bistro is at a crossroads, and there are many different and interesting people, and it is a meeting point for the inhabitants of the district. the bar also makes diner, with family cuisine rich, tasty and at moderate prices. for those who love to take a sweet or salty breakfast (the croissants come from the bakery next door, which is among the best in the city) or a small break between one commission and the other!
