Bio Bistro Bacio - Basel

I was in this typical and excellent restaurant a few days ago thanks to a birthday party with about eleven people. Based on a simple description, I expected a good quality restaurant but everything was really beyond all expectations. The food was really fantastic with several typical plates from Sri Lanka/India (I have appreciated a lot, above all, the lamb with curry and the banana flowers salad). They have also plates for Vegans. The owners (Dunia and Viraj) and the staff were always very friendly and professional, always able to give us a good suggestion on the food and/or drinks. A very good variety of red/white/rosé wines and other drinks, alcoholic and nonalcoholic. I have chosen an excellent Argentinian Malbech. There is on the terrace a very nice view on the Rhine river and some Basle corners. At the end of the beautiful meal, I have ordered a very good tea which was much better than other ones I have tasted. Congratulations on the everything to Dunia and Viraj for their restaurant that I highly recommend to everyone is around Basle or from Basle...

It's like entering a different culture. I don't recommend it for business people. If you have time and want to experience a different atmosphere/smell and on a sunny day, you can enjoy the view on the river sitting on the balcony.

Hungry and looking for anything to eat but fastfood we ran into this bistro. The street side looked inviting enough, but once we got seated on the terrace with view on the Rhine some things worried me a little. Large cranes and a not so great looking stylish ambiance made me fear the worst. Man was I wrong! The menu slightly aims at vegetarians, but there is lamb and shrimp on the menu as well. Some good Vollmond beers available too (also alcohol free.) Every single menu item was a joy to eat and a feast for the tongue. Spring rolls, cocos soup, the curry's. man, the best I ever had! Enjoy the view on the river and hopefully the building has been finished. After dinner take a stroll with the knowledge you supported a great cook and a lovely restaurant.

The service is lukewarm. Unfortunately, you can't pick up a smile at the service. my wife and I ate here at lunchtime. After eating, we wanted to pay with the card. this is not possible! So I told the service that I was getting money and coming back. the woman wanted my wife to sit and wait. a pure sweat! I had never had such a great misconfidence. Of course my wife did not stay. have given my id as security. I went to pay. drink money 0! We never come anymore. a shame!

My friend and I were last week to visit the bacio. we were thrilled! here ayurveda is authentic, healthy and freshly prepared and taught how to get it in the east on the table. the foods are mainly spiced with crimp and not western-salted.the cook white what he does and combines taste with optics and plays skillfully with various aromes. there are vegan dishes that are gluten-free, but there are also meat or fish. the location is beautiful with direct view to the Rhine. the restaurant offers a lot of homemade desserts as well as two very refreshing homemade drinks (which, by the way, gave us the service to taste because we were new - that was high!) as well as homemade chai (also tastes not like rinse water but how to taste chai. without much sugar or seeing, we are not in the Starbucks..!)The service was very attentive and refreshing young, honest and cordial. To end you get cardamom seeds to mouth hygiene, a wonderful idea that completes a wonderful concept. thank you, we will definitely be back!
