Bidrage med feedbackAlways nice to find Jim in the kitchen preparing exciting stuff. The portions are perfect and priced right. Great for a single person or a night-off cooking. Chef Jim Garraway makes everything from scratch with the best ingredients. Recommend the Quiche!
Wonderful staff wonderful food. My new favorite place in Barrie. Will recommend to friends family and strangers on the street
Morning constitutionals are de facto boring, so I try to vary my route as much as possible… which by happenstance brought me past Parkside’s Corner Market on a warm September morning. On Facebook the market styles itself as a convenience store, and it is that… selling the usual gamut of dairy products, baked goods, soft drinks, snacks, etc. But what makes this little store different is a warm inviting upscale ambiance, a wide range of store-made take home dinners, and last but not least a small selection of very good wraps, salads, soup of the day, etc. The service counter sports a couple of chairs which might in theory be used for an individual wanting to eat in. I did not test this theory and ordered take-out. The proprietress was friendly and helpful, happily stopping her food preparation for a couple of minutes to describe food and business. I bypassed the suggested breakfast wrap and instead opted for a pulled pork wrap. Larger than I expected for $6, it was chock full of ingredients including a zingy BBQ sauce. Very tasty. Also my cup of take-out coffee was very good. Both good value. Additional note: Call-ahead orders are welcomed. Bottom line… By no means a “go-to destination” restaurant, but an interesting place both for the local neighborhood and for spur-of-the-moment passersby.
Great spot to pick up lunch/supper to take home or to work. Also have frozen entrees. No area to dine in but good variety and selection.
What an amazing place! This unique wee market is amazing! It's a store, yes, but it is a really special place. All you have to do is stick your nose into the shop to know that something amazing is happening here. The last time this happened to me was in St. John Newfoundland! Finding a place that has food this good in such oxymoronic environs, well! Don't let the outside appearance fool you. Walk in, look around and be amazed. Talk to the chef. Yes, I said CHEF! Jim Garraway is the Chef and is assisted by Amanda Passa. I really didn't know what to expect, but OMG, what a nice place! I wasn't planning on eating anything (just looking!) but I got the quiche! Now, remember, this is mostly a take out spot, and a gem it is, but they heated up the quiche and LOVED IT. They don't have a seating area inside (in fact, it is tiny inside) but there is seating outside, and you are beside a park too. Regardless, my wife and I sat outside at the table and ate the most delicious quiche I've had in a long time. There are lots of options for food for take out (or eating as I did) and I can't wait to try some more! I grabbed a take out menu from JIm, but he stated, "this is only a reference... we may or may not have any of this..." My only wish is that this was a full scale restaurant, but then, it may lose its charm! The most expensive menu item? Roasted Salmon Dinner, Smoked Ribs and Lasagna (beef or veggie) for $12. I'm so glad that my daughter purchased a house not two blocks away. I'll be back. I'll be back in a hurry!
