The Pipe Major - Barking and Dagenham

My husband, children, and I had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. The bar staff and waitress were lovely, the food was delicious, and they had a great selection of drinks. We will definitely be coming back.

This is a food pub, but it stops serving food before 8:00pm. How disappointing is that? A food pub that doesn't serve food. I would recommend avoiding this chain in the future.

The staff at this restaurant are friendly, attentive, and consistently go out of their way to make sure you have a great dining experience. Julie and her team are always willing to help and ensure you have all that you need.

Been here quite a lot over the years and it’s always been ok, however last couple of times, the food hasn’t been great. Yesterday I ordered a BBQ cauliflower wings starter I usually have the salad but it’s gone up to a ridiculous price of over £12! The starter was not far from £6. When it arrived I wished I’d taken a photo, so sad looking , very poorly presented. The ‘rocket’ looked soggy and limp like it was a week old at least. There was no crispy onions or lime wedge as it says in description. It was presented in the kind of small baking dish used in the oven, not a nice plate. I took it back to get the crispy onions/lime wedge and said about the rocket. However, all that came back was some crispy onions added, no line wedge and no fresher rocket. Very disappointing. The friends I were with had the carvery. They said their food was quite cold and like rubber, tasted like it had been left for a long time. I went to look at the carvery area as they’d also told me NO COVERS on anything! I did see loose foil over the meat only, but no covers on anything else. One happy fly buzzing about! I feel this isn’t good enough at all, and although I never have the carvery there a lot of people that do! Surely for health and safety EVERYTHING should be covered? Very often I’ve seen deep metal trays with metal lids on? I think people of Dagenham deserve better. I for one, will probably choose elsewhere in future. Shame, cos the staff are great and so is the service! But as regards food and hygiene, socks definitely need pulling up!!!
