Bidrage med feedbackJibanananda Das is the father of modern poetry in Bengali literature. He is also known as the poet of solitude or the purest poet. He was the Professor in the English Department of Govt. BM College for several years. To keep Jibanananda 's memory alive, Prof. S. M. Immanul Hakim built Jibanananda Dash Chatwar during his tenure as principal. It is said that poet Jibanananda Das wrote his famous poem Hay Chill হায় চিল while sitting at Barishal Brojomohun BM College. At that time, the English Department was in the present Physics Building. The poet used to sit in a room on the second floor of the building. He might have seen the sky through the window of the red brick building. He searched for the scent of the sun on the wings of birds. And in the afternoon of the wet clouds, you could hear the cry of the chill. The tone that rang out to him was a melody of pain. The poet wrote the poem Hay Chill on one such wet, cloudy afternoon. Looking through the window of that red brick building, a shadowy square can be seen. Radhachura and Krishnachura trees are on both sides of that square. The branches of this tree came and touched each other on the square. Poet Jibanananda Das Chatwar was built under his shadow. In the shadow of which still fly flocks of Shalik. Poet Jibanananda Das wanted to come back as Sankhachil, or this Shalik!
It is located at BM College. Behind this circle there is a lake. There are so many benches for sit around the bank of the lake. Many food hawkers also available there. At afternoon people visiting there for freshness. Thank you!!
This Jibanananda Chattar is named after the poet Jibanananda Das and in his memory. He was born in Barisal to a Vaidya-Brahmo family, Das studied English literature at Presidency College, Kolkata and earned his MA from Calcutta University. He had a troubling career and suffered financial hardship throughout his life. He taught at many colleges but was never granted tenure. He settled in Kolkata after the partition of India. Das died on 22 October 1954, eight days after being hit by a tramcar. It’s a well-known place in BM College Barishal. The students sit here and chat. Many events are organized here at different times. Here, everyone got up to the beat of the song. Parents of BM Primary School wait for their children here in the morning. Even many outsiders on campus actually sit here and take a rest.
