Bicioci - Barcelona

Decor was nice and bodes well with the hipster trend. Upon entering, the atmosphere is noisy, slightly chaotic and I found myself having to talk loud amongst my friends. We were seen to quickly and given a table. The menu is very basic and simply and if you are going for there a basic bocadillo(sandwich), you are not going to be disappointed, the overall experience was underwhelming, the breakfast dishes don't have even the smallest amount of finnish put into it. Which is a shame as Gracia as an area lacks good quality breakfast and brunch places to go to.. they could do so much more here in improving customer experience, up levelling there plates and maybe more staff. Payment is also chaotic, expect to queue by the counter and wait. Positives to say about the place is that they do good coffee and juices.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Barcelona and made many trips to Biocci because I love the bike ambience. Today was my last visit. I had gone to have brunch and write on my iPad. I am not one of those people who ties down a table for three hours on the back of a glass of water. I respect businesses have to make money and I always keep the meter running. I had ordered a plate of toasts, poached eggs and bacon which was €9. While letting that settle, I was writing before ordering coffee and dessert. There were also a number of other people working at their laptops. As far as I could tell, they had not ordered food like I had. The waiter came over with the bill and told me I had to leave because he wanted the table for lunch hour. I responded that I was still eating my lunch and intended to take coffee. He told me that my lunch was actually breakfast but I replied that since it was a large plate and that coffee and dessert would be equal in value to menú del dia, I didn’t see any difference. I should add out that nobody was actually waiting for my table at this point. With extremely bad grace, he stomped back to the bar at which point I told him to forget the coffee. I paid and left with him still muttering insults at me which really wasn’t classy or respectful. Biocci Bike Cafe looks like a really cool place and I always used to think it was. Maybe this guy was having a hard time. But todays experience left a very sour taste. I won’t be going back. I don’t recommend that you do, either.

1st class tapas washed down by a fine organic Rioja. We arrived late on the evening but enjoyed every morsel. Great atmosphere and staff.

Do not hesitate to approach and try the croissants while enjoying an original decoration.
