Oriental Jade Restaurant - Banyule

To eat in here it is a very basic restaurant????the food is tasty so we tend to get it delivered to home ????the delivery driver was pleasant and it didn't take long for the delivery to come ????

Whilst the restaurant was clean, friendly and comfortable, the menu was limited and showed no imagination which, in modern days with high competition between eateries we have come to expect. Dishes were tasty, served quickly and were of adequate size but did not excite my palate as much as I would like to expect. As I said, staff were friendly and prepared to modify dishes to our suggestions but overall this Restaurant failed to make me want to go there again and again.

Just moved to the area, been discovering the local cuisine. This is my first attempt at Chinese take away, and will be my last from this particular place. I ordered vegetarian spring rolls (I'm not vegetarian, I just prefer them), special fried rice with no prawns, Mongolian beef and the 'Parma' of Chinese food, lemon chicken. The spring rolls tasted no better than frozen supermarket spring rolls and there was not enough sauce for the two of them. The special fried rice with no prawns, was not only 'food court' quality (ie, extraordinarily ordinary) but also contained prawns. Lots of them. If you like prawns, good for you! Me? They kinda disagree with me. So, not good. The Mongolian beef was awful. The beef itself was tough and actually tasted a bit off. The veges had no flavour and the sauce was not good enough to redeem all that. Now for the 'parma'It's pretty hard to mess up a Parma. Even the Chinese version of it. But this lemon chicken was nothing more than you might get if you battered and fried some chicken and drowned it in a jar of Kan-Tong. Seriously, not just unimpressed, but downright disappointed.

We went for the smaller of the banquets. The four of us decided that in the past we have always over eaten at these types of eateries. Good decision. All the meals were of a very acceptable quality and were not greasy nor did we feel that any of the food has MSG. The hostess has a great sense of humour and enjoys a good banter. Made our night very enjoyable. Fresh and tasty food.

Basic restaurant. Not very big. Basic food, but nice. I would select another restaurant. Prices are pretty good, though.
